Great post - in two incisive sentences! IMHO very thoughtful, insightful and pertinent observations!

This has to be true! Who wouldn't be really ****hed off given what's happened to your great club, the team you had stood at threshold of greatness, three good additions and they would have crossed it - no doubt in my mind. On a positive note from an objective and dispassionate PURIST view [Liverpool fan] as I'm sure your are aware Morgan and Wanyama are a great basis to build on . . . . . . IF that's IF you can keep them. [A couple of glorious passes from Morgan on Saturday passes of the highest quality.] Loathe to say this but I feel it's object enough to warrant the mention - two things were blatantly missing, a 'cutting edge' and though it's early days somehow my gut tells me Pelle is not the answer, I think he'll flatter to deceive, [hope I'm wrong].The other was 'telling' creativity, I watched the game and the player you'll miss most in those sort of dour affairs [and I suspect there'll be more of them as this new team adjusts - the Prem as we all know is very unforgiving] anyway the player you missed most and will in "unlocking" such games IMHO was - Lallana.
-
Indeed a generous gesture and apt on a Saints forum your holiness - and no doubt it was heavenly when they were with you but I asked where they are from - not whence they are bound.
-
Please remind me where are Lambert and Adkins from?
-
Added to the fact he's very nippy . . . .

In realm of probabilities and educated guesswork - Yes.

Liverpool vs Saints - which ONE player did we miss the most
ENSKIED replied to StratfordSaint's topic in The Saints
Le Tiss without any shadow of a doubt!!! . . . . . But on a more "serious" but nonetheless still fun note [and I know this won't be popular] but for me Lallana [on form of course] his creativity would have IMHO competed the unwrapping of the Liverpool Midfield and 2-2 or perhaps 2-3 even? [As the Great Man once said "nearly all games are won or lost in midfield"] -

Whether they, Chelsea and Man City required time to gel or not is really not the point, what is the point is that after massive spending sprees they sit at the summit of football and if they did take time to gel we are talking what - at the most a season or so? They were both yo-yo teams prior to the Big Spend. Chelsea had not won the title for 50 years and then they'd won it just the once in their entire history, and never looked like doing so for another 50 years. Roman came along spent £900 million [Total spend] and they are now a major force in World Football - more or less the same blueprint applies to City. Real Madrid whose "main 11", note not their entire squad - fielded against Sevilla last week - cost £368 Million, are and remain, the MOST successful team in the whole of football history and also of course are the biggest spenders in football history. And as the facts inform us all the major trophies consistently go to the big spenders. These are the facts. Sure this or that can be brought to the table - it always is - AND maybe Real went two seasons or whatever without a major trophy or whatever else BUT they then spend massively again [as they do] and voila! They are King Dicks of European and World footy again. I wish it wasn't so but the facts overwhelmingly state that the Major Football trophies consistently go to the teams that spend the most, hence teams that "can" do spend Big in order to stay among the elite or get into a position whence they can dine at their table. As for the Saints well yesterday was just one game which no matter what they lost [seems harsh I know]. Before we can adjudge anything pertinent a number of games have to be played. There is no doubt in my mind that had the Saints been able to keep hold of the players who left and then added to that squad some seriously quality, then they may well have seriously challenged for a Top 4 position and half the Threads on this Forum would be unnecessary, since many of them are concerned where Saints are going to end up and of course deal in the main with the players who left the club. Time will tell all but I am loathe to say at this juncture the Saints will do well - when with the players they had [prior to selling] that idea would have been totally redundant and the main question then to be answered would have been "will the Saints crack the Top 4 this season?" In essence to sum up - IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY HONEY.

Not sure about the validity of that at all - you see that being true somebody should tell Real Madrid, Barca, Juve, Chelsea, Man U , Man City, Inter, AC Milan, Bayern, indeed any team that has consistently won the major trophies over the last 60 or so years that they wasted Billions upon Billions

Couldn't be father from the truth I don't know you and thereby I would never call you or even imply you're an idiot, you have inferred that of your own reasoning process. In fact you seem a really decent person who has manufactured a dream from what appears to be a potential disaster and you enter the dream [hope springs eternal] - didn't you get the beaming smile on the face bit? No? The mirage becomes true to you and you've passed into a heaven. Scouse humour is prevalent and maybe a little subcutaneous as I can deduce on here [you'll get used to me] and we all know why Scousers require a cutting sense of humour . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .please fill in the blanks

Leave the desert analogies to the desert experts? Really? You have to be a "desert expert" to know when you are being baked and dying of thirst - really? Well here's a diagnosis in a field in which I am an eminent expert, you've undergone a humour by-pass and here's the good news - it worked. Re-read the post and Relax! Life is too short and I'm something of an expert on that too . . . . . .

Thanks for that good sensible reply. Yes there is a bigger picture, we hope Grafitto that eventually the fans see it. It's the unpoliced use of riches that is attacking the very soul of the game - something needs to be done. I wish for example that nobody in support terms would show up at Anfield today in protest, maybe then people would START getting the message . . . . BUT I'll just dream on.

I have commented on this state of affairs concerning the Saints in particular and football in general a number of times now, that being the case let's attempt to address matters once again. Rodgers and his ilk are mere pawn in the game, the money game, he gets it wrong and he's fired - end of. He like the other managers make acceptable sound-bites, they really have to or their peers will in essence wreck them - it's all part of the off-the-field, behind closed doors power game. The real culprits in this are the people making the money out of football, which having taken on the mantle of a global phenomena attracts greedy manipulative agents, extremely greedy footballers and to top it off owners like Americans, who know nothing about football and thereby have no love for the game but nonetheless have bought Premiership clubs. They haven't done this for charity, their health or well-being, they have invested for monetary reasons, fame, reflected glory and ultimately playing billionaire games which in the end attacks the very soul of the game itself . Southampton were asset stripped and people make no mistake have made serious money out of it, hence they endorsed and sanctioned it - in any business getting a return of some £100 Million pounds for an outlay of some £10 - 12 million is great business. The people who don't really count in all this is are the grass root match going fans. And legislation is required to ensure that what happened to Southampton does not happen again, however, my instincts tell me legislation won't be forthcoming any time soon UNLESS WE THE FANS DO SOMETHING RATHER DRASTIC, since some of the people as already intimated at Southampton [as with all the other clubs] do very nicely out of this current state of affairs - the ones that suffer are we the cheated match grass root support.

The post contains truth, however, perhaps just one caveat to that and again remaining factual rather than in any way emotional, Spurs as a Global Brand are not in the same league as Liverpool - far, far, from it. The latter, a team who have won 18 League Titles, 5 ECL, one of them arguably the most dramatic in European history [having contested 7 finals in total], 3 EUFA Cups their last one voted the greatest European Final ever [5-4 against Alaves] etc. etc. etc. are for those reasons concomitant with notoriety, controversy and thereby constant Global press coverage most particularly in the wake of Hillsborough and all that entailed and still entails [as the great Hollywood publicist said "all publicity is good publicity"] Liverpool FC then are indelibly stamped on the European game in particular and the world game in general - Spurs are not.

As for whether Liverpool have made a better job of replacing Suarez than Spurs did with Bale, Grafitto - time alone will tell us mate. Incidentally no one is irreplaceable and let's try not to lose our sense of humour in the melee. So anyway how can we adjudge at this moment whether Liverpool have made a better job of replacing Suarez than Spurs did with Bale since in this instance the season has yet to start! My post may be disingenuous to you, [comedic to me] - fair enough that is just your "appreciation" of it - however, it does remain eminently factual. If any of the facts are wrong, do point them out and I'll reappraise the post.

They do say hope springs eternal! The post reminds me of a man lost in the desert with little water, and with the heat of the sun frying him, his mind succumbs to delusions. Convinced the mirage ahead is an oasis of pure water, he crawls toward it. While as he does his fertile imagination takes over creating visions of dusky young nubile maidens who living at the paradisical oasis devoid of any male company long for his arrival. He crawls onward until the heat of the sun finally does its work. Later on the man is found dead but with a large beaming grin on his face, which really perplexes the search party.

£75 Million for a player banned for the next 4 months and 28 soon thereafter, who comes with more baggage than Heathrow Airport; who should he fall foul of the authorities again could seriously jeopardise the rest of his career, bringing his club as he has every club he has played for including his own national team into disrepute . . . . . . . . .that ain't selling!!! That's what used to be termed highway robbery.

You should always get a good reception in the Arkles which is very close by, the only caveat is that it will be full to bursting near match time but that creates its own atmosphere of course. If you want a more sedate "drink" try the likes of the pubs down Oakfield Road or Belmont Road or indeed try a little further afield, the likes of the Sheil Park on Sheil Road [large pub on the corner] or the Molyneux on Molyneux Road, off Sheil Road, these pubs are a 15 - 20 minute walk from the ground but you should find them far less busy and of course still within easy walking of Anfield. Most Liverpool people are extremely friendly . . . . . . quid pro quo terms.

What you say is true Prof and Lovren let Saints fans down badly. However, it is worth adding that in regards to what he did, he is no different that the vast majority of footballers. As the Spurs defender Assou-Ekotto readily observed a couple of seasons ago, "we footballers are no more than mercenaries . . . . . "

Should that be blacked list?
