Kindly explain to us why Keir Starmer as Deputy Leader of the Labour Party working to get his party elected has anything to worry us about in what might happen in the future. Are you worried that he is going to bring Jeremy Corbyn back? It isn’t going to happen. He has moved Labour away from the far left, a good thing in your world surely?

Given that we are in the state we are in is because of the last 14 years of Tory miss government it would seem to be a tad foolish to ignore that fact. To try and crucify Keir Starmer because he tried to get his party elected 5 years ago pails into insignificance in comparison. Labour weren’t in power, the Tories were. I know the people who think that Socialism Is Dangerous will try and make some kind of argument that the two are comparable, but they really aren’t. Starmer and all parties are up for scrutiny, of course they are, but scrutinised them on the important issues, not something that has no relevance and has been plucked out of the air in a vain attempt to discredit someone because they have little to go on.

He has plenty of “previous.” His post count goes through the roof as soon as anybody criticises any right of centre politics. His mantra is “socialism is dangerous.” I’m not sure how he squares that when he visits the NHS Scot free or applies for benefits if he loses his job (if he has one). You won’t see him get shirty about parliamentary candidates who have links to a high profile fascist but he certainly will over something which is of no importance in this election or the future of the country because it involves a 😱 socialist! What’s more of a big deal, hypothetically serving in a cabinet under Corbyn or Partygate, giving £££s to your mates for rubbish PPE. Crashing the economy, serving under a boss who lied daily etc etc etc?

It really doesn’t matter. It was 5 years ago and has no bearing on what is happening now. Corbyn is out and Starmer is the leader. The focus should be on what he plans to do if he is elected rather on what he would our wouldn’t have done 5 years ago. Not surprisingly those on the right of the media are trying to do their level best to smear Starmer and they have very little to go with, hence making mountains out of molehills. Next time he should just say yes, he would have served in Corbyn’s cabinet, next question. There are plenty of people who serve in cabinets who don’t agree with every policy put forward. It really isn’t that important. He was deputy leader of the party. He was already implicated with Corbyn.

So Sunak being Chancellor for the sad, fat, lying, narcissistic, incompetent, other people’s wife shagging mentalist is not likely to attract floating floaters to him either? Didn’t your choice, Badenoch, serve under another batshit crazy PM, Liz Truss? How will floating voters feel about that?

Listened to the phone in on Nick Ferrari’s show with Keir Starmer this morning. He sounds much more comfortable with the questioning now than he did on that first televised debate with Sunak. One thing I don’t get though is his reluctance to say if he would have served in a government lead by Corbyn. He was the deputy leader of the party and a member of the shadow cabinet so why wouldn’t he and why would that be an issue? It would be more of an issue if he had not surely? It doesn’t mean that he will be the same as Corbyn as a leader. Own it Keir.

So sorry to hear this Noodles. With deepest condolences to you and your family.

I was thinking more along the lines of telling them that the reason their lives are crap is because of migrants.

As Boris Johnson and Donald Trump have already shown us, just give some people what they want to hear and they will swallow it hook, line and sinker. Farage has this off pat. He knows exactly what to say to appeal to a certain section of the public and they lap it up. They never learn. Reform aren’t a political party, like UKIP they are a pressure group. Farage is using them to worm his way into the Tory Party which he wants to recreate in his own image. It’s his best bet at getting his hands on power. Let’s hope that the decent people in Clacton turn up and keep him out.

I don’t normally turn to The Guardian for insights into Gareth Southgate’s England, but this is spot on. https://amp.theguardian.com/football/article/2024/jun/17/england-gareth-southgate-serbia-euro-2024

Yes. Apparently he is a quality CB now.

Imagine there’s no migrants It’s easy if you try The asylum seekers in small boats Tip them up and let them die Imagine all the migrants Living life in Rwanda, oh oh You can call me a racist, but I’m not the only one I hope one day they will be on a plane And the white people can live as one.

Yes he is there to get the side through, which is what he has done. But he continues to be ultra cautious even when he gets through. Caution will get you so far but as he has proved time and again, it doesn’t necessarily win you anything. He could do with a bit of the who dares wins mentality at times. I think the general consensus is that what was important last night was the win. What is causing the alarm bells to ring is the inability to change things when it became clear that Serbia had weathered the storm. We were on the back foot for much of the game after the first half hour and the worry is that we showed no idea about how to get a decent level of control of the game back. We have seen that so often with our own side. We start off brightly and score, only to let the other team back into the game and either scrape home or lose the game. Southgate, for me, has always had the air of a plucky loser about him. If this is to be his last tournament he now has the chance to show that he can be a winner. The signs were not there last night. There are huge lessons to be learned from that performance. Will he learn them? Given his previous experience in the job, he really ought to.

Not sure about that. Bellingham has all the makings of a world class player and is certainly not lacking in confidence but although Kane and Saka are class, I’m not sure if they are world class. We have a very strong squad but it is always about how you use those. It has often been said about Southgate that he doesn’t make the best out of what he has at his disposal and, again, our ability to win this competition will not be down so much to the players on the pitch but more to how they are instructed to play. As has been said many times on here, you only have to look at the Foden who plays for City against the same player for England. Fair play to Serbia for turning their performance around after a torrid start, but, with our quality, we shouldn’t be hanging on and praying for the final whistle. Of course it’s only the first game and Serbia are no mugs, but I don’t think that we would have many of the other teams worried by that performance after 30 minutes.

https://constitutioncenter.org/amp/blog/what-does-it-take-to-repeal-a-constitutional-amendment The right to keep and bear arms was made when those arms were far less lethal than they are now and I’m sure the amendment wasn’t made with the mass killings of local communities by deranged neighbours being part of the plan.
-
As Micah Richard’s said, we have a good squad but we don’t yet have a good team.
-
Job done. We don’t often win the first game so happy with that.

What politics are they exactly? All I want at the moment is the Tory Party out and the Reform Party to be without any MPs. I have said many times that I have voted for the LibDems until Clegg handed power to Cameron. The last 2 elections I voted Labour tactically. This election I shall be voting Labour both tactically and because I think Starmer will make the best PM out of what we have to choose from. You try and turn that into some kind of endorsement of raging pinko politics but that is only in your warped imagination. Little wonder Farage has you in his thrall.
-
I would have preferred him to the dross that the Tories served up, yes. I am in step with anyone who is against genocide. I have never said that Diane Abbott would have made a good Home Secretary, but again I would prefer her to Patel or Braverman. There is a lot more to politics than a few policies or personalities. You won’t know that because the only thing that works for you are the dog whistle politics of Thatcher and Farage. You guzzle up the red meat they throw to you and the other gammons every time. Shouldn’t you be out distributing Reform leaflets?
