  1. Very sad. I don’t know where he gets the whole Communist take over guff from as we have had a Tory government for 13 years and many of the current cabinet are the most right wing in ages. Many countries in the world are also seeing a growth in far right politics. If we elect Starmer, his will be a centrist Labour government, much to the disappointment to the Left of the party. The cashless society guff. Surely that suits Capitalism? For some time now I have preferred to use a credit card rather than cash and to pay my account monthly. Banking online is so much more convenient than faffing around with cheques and coins. It the financial institutions make it easier to spend your money, how does that relate to Communism (not that people have a great deal to spend right now)? His whole demeanour is worrying here. He has the air of a man who has completely fallen for this rubbish hook, line and sinker. No open mind here. He has become an evangelist for the David Icke movement and that smug I Understand And You Don’t look is scary. When the guy talked about why more people in football aren’t speaking out, WTF should they? They are footballers for God’s sake and most thick as mince. If this is what GB News is serving up every day and people are watching and believing it, we are all doomed. Matt is entitled to his opinions but when you just sit in from of a brown nose interviewer and a thick audience with your views not being robustly challenged, you are being given a free ride. If he is so sure about this stuff, perhaps he ought to get out from Twitter and the safe haven of GB News and stand as an MP.
  2. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/jenrick-braverman-small-boats-b2368990.html It is almost as if there is a competition amongst Tory ministers to see who can be the most inhumane.
  3. Thank you for your input. It makes a pleasant change to see someone else have a dig. I expect that you are right, but there needs to be a counter to the gammons and WUMs on here 😘
  4. If what I write is so inflammatory why is it that it is only the same few people who respond all the time? They share the same agenda (as do the posters elsewhere you mention). If I stopped posting tomorrow they would find another liberal and so called “woke” poster to turn on. All you are doing is excusing poor behaviour. You blame me but I have seen it happen elsewhere to other people by people with far right agendas. Post anything mildly “woke” on social media and immediately there is a right wing pile on. If you don’t believe me check out Gary Lineker’s threads on Twitter.
  5. Yes I agree, the conflict between the French police and certain sections of their society is worrying. I was just enjoying the irony of the agenda driven Batman who has previous for posting disinformation once again posting disinformation and thinking that it doesn’t matter that he has posted disinformation. Are you also concerned about the rise of the far right? They have organised a crowd funding page for the officer who lodged a bullet in the head of an unarmed teenager and they have raised over the equivalent of £600,000 so far! I see the New Conservatives are back in the news here today. Just what we need, another right wing group trying to drum up support for far right policies. We were due to drive down to the Dordogne with friends at the weekend but fortunately went for a cheaper option and changed to a staycation. I hope it doesn’t also kick off here too. If it does hopefully we will be okay in our sleepy Suffolk village. With regards to your final question, no I won’t be taking the knee and I don’t understand what that actually has to do with anything. For future reference though, arthritis is a major issue now so you need not concern yourself with any of my bodily actions taken in solidarity with minority group victims of police brutality as the knees are buggered.
  6. Gullible Batman in spreading misinformation shocker…again. Does it matter? There is your problem right there Batman. You clearly can’t see what is wrong here can you? In posting a fake picture that you purport to have been taken at the riot you might just have well as posted a picture taken of someone with a gun at any time at any place and say, look what is happening in France right now. Get the difference yet? You might just as well post a painting of the storming of the Bastille. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Storming_of_the_Bastille#/media/File%3APrise_de_la_Bastille.jpg I am more surprised that he didn’t post this report though, far more his thing and deeply worrying for those concerned about the growth of the far right in Europe. https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/crowdfunder-set-up-french-police-30374334.amp
  7. The more you write posts like this, the more it is obvious why you weren’t let near anything more sophisticated than a grill in the galley on a submarine.
  8. Just “bless”. You are very selective about the people you criticise and it never includes the usual suspects. I don’t think you have ever posted against your mate, the forum stalker/WUM or his crew. I don’t cry. I don’t whine. I have been followed about by Turkish, hypochondriac, Batman, Duckhunter, and Weston for years. I am not sure you would sit back and swallow so much puerile drivel but when you describe me as being like your younger sister, it is the pile on crew who behave like that - pinching and nibbling at anybody who speaks out for minority groups. If I snipe back I think I have that right.
  9. And you remind me a bit of the guy in the playground who likes to think he is cool but really he just hangs around the edge of the school bullies and jumps in to back them up every now and again to keep them onside but knows that they will never let him be part of the gang because he can’t even deal with his little sister, let alone stand up to the school bullies.
  10. You have to wonder that if the Mean Girls got out more and met a wider range of people rather than sitting at home trolling away on the internet, whether they might then have something more interesting to offer the forum other than their normal daily WUMmery?
  11. This is one of the (many) peculiar things about the pile on crew. I have posted about my family, health matters, jobs, where I live etc and not a peep from them. If I post something concerning someone I know, have known or have met pertinent to a particular thread you can bet your mortgage that one or more will immediately be on to say that I am making it up. Why I would want to make it up, God only knows as it makes absolutely no difference to anything. Also, if I was going to the effort of making things up I would certainly make them more exciting! Perhaps nothing here or no one is as it seems? Perhaps Turkish isn’t an international jet setting super salesman after all 🤔 Lighthouse, there is plenty of information on the internet about the difference between biological sex and gender. I am not sure if we have read the same stuff and come to different conclusions but I am not best placed to fight their corner for them. Perhaps talk to a trans person about it and get a first hand perspective? I think you also made a comment earlier about wanting to seen as being a “good person”. It is nothing to do with that and more to do with not being a blinkered reactionary a-hole.
  12. Telling another person they are wrong in how they feel? With all due , respect, I think they probably know better what is going on with them than you are. I can’t imagine what goes on with them but going to the extent of gender reassignment surgery is a pretty big deal and I don’t think that many people would do that on a whim, because it might be fashionable or because they have a mental disorder. We are clearly not going to agree on it but I really think you are on very weak ground when you presume to know what another person is going through when they feel that they have been born in a different body. Once upon a time they used to think that they could “cure” gay people too. I am not disputing what constitutes a biological male or female. Gender identity is something different.
  13. I am not trying to impose any view on the rest of society. I just think that anyone with a shred of empathy would support people who feel that they were born in the wrong body and have a chance to live the lives they feel they were born to lead. Your view of gender is your own, but it is wrong and you seem to be stuck in the biological definition of sexuality. Things have moved on a bit. His name is Alex by the way. He is not imaginary just as the many other trans people on the planet are not imaginary, and for those who think it is something to be ridiculed along with every other minority group you spend your time making fun of, perhaps you are the people with the issues? By the way, in my experience, people who immediately think that you are lying when you tell them something tend to be habitual liars themselves and are projecting. AlexLaw76 is a perfect example. When called out for being Delldays/Batman his response was “I am not that person.” He also claimed to have met me, which he hasn’t.
  14. You are in danger of conflating gender reassignment surgery with Female Genital Mutilation. This is the definition of mutilation from Wikipedia - “Mutilation is severe damage to the body that has a ruinous effect on an individual’s quality of life. It can also refer to alterations that render something inferior, ugly, dysfunctional or imperfect. In modern times the term has an overwhelmingly negative connotation.” And ”Sex reassignment surgery has been called “mutilation” by critics; use of this term to describe sex reassignment surgery is often considered heavily provocative and insulting by those who are transgender.” I expect someone like hypochondriac to make that comment about serious mental health issues, but not you. Both of the people have a much better quality of life now that they have bodies that they are comfortable with and gender issues are obviously not down to “mental health issues.” I have known one of these people for 20 years now. We meet in The Priory and she was a lesbian suffering from deep depression. She never mentioned not being comfortable in her body but was a boxer, played football, went fishing and was quite blokish. Some time later I received a message to say she had some news. She was now a he. Since then he has grown a beard, got married to a lovely lady and has two young children. He is so much happier and fulfilled than the miserable female that I met 20 years ago. I think both people would tell you that this was their best solution. Who are you or I to tell them otherwise? Neither of them would say that they have been “let down by society”, quite the opposite. They would feel more let down by people with attitudes like yours and hypochondriac who would deny them a better quality of life.
  15. Think what you like, but the procedure is called reassignment surgery, not reassignment mutilation. I know two people who have been through the process and to suggest that they have mutilated themselves is deeply disrespectful and ignorant.
  16. I had part of one of my kidneys removed several years ago. It was called an operation, not a mutilation. You could argue that it mutilated the kidney but many operations end up “mutilating” something. I am sure women who have mastectomies are delighted to hear that they have mutilated breasts. It is emotive language, pure and simple.
  17. Where ever you go Weston, you will always be the biggest cock 😉 As for the comments about “mutilation”, dear God! What kind of person thinks that alone posts it?
  18. I don’t know and I certainly didn’t suggest that they should be, but they clearly often are. I was merely wondering who might be next. The Kinks and Peter Gabriel both headlined in the 90’s and since 2000 we have had David Bowie, Rod Stewart, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Stevie Wonder, The Rolling Stones, The Who (twice), Paul McCartney (twice) and Elton John. You can probably throw both U2 and R.E.M. in as the both launched in 1980 so would have been playing in the late 70’s. Despite your Glenn Miller comment, these acts pull in audiences on site of over 100,000 plus the millions watching on TV. Not too shabby for a bunch of Glenn Millers, eh?
  19. For someone of my age group I am looking at acts that started in the 60’s and 70’s and have a large and good enough back catalogue that still appeals now and can attract younger generations. People like Paul McCartney, Elton John, the Rolling Stones and the like now have legendary status. Bands like the Foo Fighters, The Killers and Arcade Fire have a way to go yet before falling into that bracket. Carl Palmer is currently touring using footage of Keith Emerson and Greg Lake (both now sadly deceased) on big screens on either side of the stage playing ELP classics. Apparently he considered using some kind of holographic imagery of them playing live but the film worked better. He uses a backing tape of their keyboards, bass and vocals whilst he plays the drums to it live. Paul McCartney did similar with a film of John Lennon at Glastonbury last year.
  20. Not a bad call to be fair. We are already edging towards a meltdown as we haven’t signed anyone yet despite the season not starting for several weeks and there has already been speculation as to when our brand new manager could be sacked! Enjoy your break!
  21. Not seen anything of Glastonbury this year despite the wall to wall coverage given by the BBC (it seems to be a major part of their corporate Summer season now along with Wimbledon and The Proms) so we decided to sit down with a jug of Pimms to see what Reg had to offer. Despite not being big fans, it was a great show. 2 hours of hit after hit. That is the way to close Glastonbury, give the fans what they want. The only way to top that was an encore of Can You Feel The Love Tonight, but sadly no encore. His voice isn’t the same and he can’t do the falsettos any more, he doesn’t look terribly mobile and had autocues all over the stage, but he still gave it some wellie for an old’un. McCartney could have smashed it in the same way last year if he had chosen his playlist better. There aren’t many long established massive acts left now with stellar back catalogues. Fleetwood Mac maybe if they roped Lindsey Buckingham back in. We are probably due for more headline spots for The Foo Fighters, The Killers and Coldplay over the next few years. Talking of The Killers, what has Brandon Flowers done to his face?
  22. I agree that the Dowden v Rayner was very poor, but there is a lot more to politics than the PMQ’s pantomime. That is petty politics in a nutshell and they all play that game. It doesn’t mean that she is a poor MP or shadow minister. If you look into her life she has had a real battle to get where she is. I would rather someone like her in the House than an entitled vacuous “toff” like Jacob Rees-Mogg. https://www.greatermancunians.blog/angela-rayner-labour-politician-ashton-mp
  23. I think it makes a pleasant change to see a front bench that reflects normal people who can relate to the country on a normal level. These are real people who have lived real lives and have a far greater understanding of what is actually going on than the strange bunch opposite who seem to inhabit a parallel universe and can’t answer basic questions without trotting out meaningless sound bites. If you want “thick” you don’t need to look much further than the Tory front bench (plus the likes of Dorries). I’d choose Rayner over any of those.

I have no idea but as we know, different things rattle different people’s cages. The Tory’s seem to have a similar issue with Islamophobia. I can’t speak for the “Left” but I do think that, with Corbyn, he does genuinely care about the plight of the Palestinians.
