“Horseshit?” Don’t turn into another one of the forum blinkered thickies Whelk. There are plenty of articles and books written about this by intelligent people who have studied the subject. You could start with The Holy Reich: Nazi Conceptions of Christianity, 1919-1945 by Richard Steigmann-Gall.
-
I’m not sure what Harry Kane has got to do with it. Whelk, where do you think the information from Google comes from? There are a number of well informed articles about religion in Germany in the 1930’s. At the time of the rise of the Nazi Party the country was mostly Protestant but with a high number of Catholics. If you think that religion vanished overnight with the rise of Hitler you are just as deluded as the likes of Turkish and Batman. During his time in power Hitler tried to formulate a new Positive Christianity in order to reinforce his Aryan agenda. Towards the end of his time in power he started to turn on Catholics, having protestant sensibilities. Hitter’s relationship with the church, as well as his relationship with anything, was all about its relationship with power and control but whatever you think of him and his team, we were at war with Germany and the country was a Christian country. This is a direct quote from Adolf Hitler, “We tolerate no one in our ranks who attacks the ideas of Christianity. Our movement is Christian.” From the horse’s mouth.
-
It is well documented. Google it if you are interested. I have never ignored the religious element used by fundamentalists to justify their attacks. If it is the case that everyone knows that all Muslims weren’t involved it makes you wonder why the usual suspects kept up their tirade! Hypochondriac for example insisted that Muslims were responsible because they weren’t coming forward to the authorities with information. When I pointed out (the obvious) point that perhaps they weren’t coming forward because they didn’t have information he wouldn’t have it. It was that level of ridiculous.
-
No I wasn’t. There were others that supported the fact that Germany was a Christian country when we went to war so it isn’t a great leap of faith to realise that many of the military were of Christian faith. There is plenty of proof that Hitler used “God” in his propaganda too, as was pointed out at the time. As for absolving Islam from terrorism, certainly not. My point was always that you can’t hold normal, peace loving Muslims responsible for terrorist atrocities. Blaming “Islam” for these events though is ridiculous. Plenty of butchery has taken place in the name of all number of religions but it isn’t the religions at fault, it is the way that some people chose to interpret them. As we know there are plenty of Christian fundamentalist fruitcakes in America that are just as trigger happy as fundamentalists from Middle East backgrounds. The small reactionary group on here wouldn’t have that though so we had endless rounds of posts with them trying to make out my position was something else. Through history you can find countless war mongers who have insisted that “God” is on their side which is at complete odds with most religious teachings which focus on peace and tolerance.

The United Kingdom and the Death of Boris Johnson as we know it.

“He arrogantly claims that he is never wrong”. This is just not true. I only started to listen to LBC regularly a few months ago but I have heard him admit that he has been wrong about something several times. He also fronts up when he doesn’t know much about a subject and bows to someone’s superior knowledge. This week alone I have heard him say that he was going to deal with a subject that he knew little about in depth so to bear with him, hardly the action of a “know all”. You may have based your comment on his views about Brexit and the poor state of the current government, but I have yet to hear anyone get the better of him over Brexit or the ineptitude of the last few PMs/cabinets. Given the lack of support in our media for anything slightly left of centre we need people like James O’Brien for a (small) element of balance, or would you prefer more of the like of GB news? -
If you remember I was making the (obvious) point that not all Muslims were terrorists and should not be held responsible for the actions of a few, something you and a few others had a problem with. Despite claiming to not know who Katie Hopkins was you spent an awful lot of time defending her, which is why we spent a lot of time discussing her. Not just I but others made the point that Germany was a Christian nation because you and a few others denied it. When Ched Evans was initially found guilty of rape some tried to defend him, wouldn’t that make them rape apologists? You are doing exactly what Lord Duckhunter and the others who support your agendas does and that is to twist and turn issues to suit your limited arguments and to try and obscure the original points being made. A little while ago you pretended to be a born again liberal. That didn’t last very long did it. You were my stalker before Turkish took over that mantle. Does this mean you are going to start stalking me again? You have been quite for a while and I had hoped that you had given up.
-
What is sad is the way that you and your very small gang of knee jerk reactionaries continue to obfuscate. You never deal with the issues, you just find ways to avoid them and to muddy the water. It’s what the people that you support in Parliament to do the country every day too. You take your lead on social media from the dreadful human beings you vote for, the likes of Johnson and Farage. You, Turkish, Weston SS, hypochondriac and Batman follow each other around here like sheep and all four of you would be well at home in the current Tory cabinet. Pitiful 🥲
-
What is weird is that you read my posts but didn’t understand that they were not about Eleanor Williams but were, in fact, aimed at Batman’s posting agenda. 🙄 Stupid is as stupid does.
-
Would you prefer a slow and painful death for a trans murderer only or would you extend that to all types of murderers?
-
What is it they say? Guns don’t kill people, people kill people. Perhaps that should be changed to people with guns kill people. Still, we have our own problems currently with knives. I suppose the only upside to our problem is that you can kill more people more quickly with a gun so it reduces the number of deaths per incident. On another angle though there is a level of detachment about killing someone from a distance and being up close and sticking a piece of sharpened metal into another human being. Perhaps we breed a different type of psychopath over here?

It is one thing being an issue Whelk, but another when the issues are either based around xenophobia or far right policies. I feel sorry for you Batman. I would have said this was your worst nightmare but it gives you someone else to search when looking to copy your anti foreigner/Muslim/any other “dodgy” religion material from Twitter. -

Anyone with half a brain will realise that the reported numbers are just the tip of the iceberg. Reports on social media, phone in shows etc are full of anecdotal evidence of “foreigners” being told to “go back home” post Brexit. I prefer to believe the people on the end of the abuse rather than an ignorant internet troll who seems to adopts the daily attitude that if something doesn’t happen to them then it isn’t a big deal. It is a well known fact that narcissists do not have empathy and that tells you all you need to know. I admire your efforts to deal with the least informed but most opinionated poster on here, but you are wasting your time. He is not interested in issues, he is only interested in forum notoriety. Any attention is good attention and you will never win. I just feel sorry for the firm who pay him to work as he seems to spend his days on here on the wind up rather than actually working. -

Even the Georgian relic, Jacob Rees-Mogg, who can spout gibberish on most subjects, was pretty much stumped when given the job of explaining the benefits of Brexit to us plebs. No surprise though that there are still a few hard of thinking individuals who still can’t see that leaving the single market has caused massive problems for our economy and standard of living. Getting back on track, another gob smacking piece of Tory bollocks has landed via the gift that keeps on giving, Michael Gove. Despite having told the world a few years ago that Boris Johnson was not a fit person for the office of PM, he would now have us believe that Johnson “is a man of integrity”. This is despite the fact that he has a proven track record of lying to his many wives, the readers of The Times, the readers of The Daily Telegraph, The Queen, Parliament, the people of London and in fact, pretty much everybody. Not surprising in itself, a senior Tory making a total arse of himself and not having the self awareness to realise that he has completely contradicted himself. What is sad though is that we just put up with this guff. This happens time and again and we let it go. The French would hound these buffoons out of office but we just roll our eyes and hope that they get voted out at the next election. What is even sadder is that there are people, a few of them on here, who will continue to vote for these charlatans no matter what they say or do. It is one thing to treat the part of the electorate who vote for other parties as fools, but to treat your own supporters as gullible simpletons takes it to another level. -

And hating liberals is a murky business all the time. You don’t see the irony in O’Brien being taken in by Beech and you being taken in by the likes of Farage, Johnson, Patel, Braverman? The difference is that liberals are initially inclined to look for the best in people whereas the people that you zone in to always seek the worst. A prime example is the way that you let the idea floated by our Home Secretary that these shores are about to be invaded by billions of migrants (who are by implied definition terrorists, rapists and all round bad eggs) go without censure. Beech is evil because he targeted people you admire. Eleanor Williams on the other hand doesn’t get a mention for doing the same thing to Asians. I think you hate James O’Brien so much because he holds a mirror up to you and makes it hard for you to live with your mindset. It must be hard to have your deep seated values challenged so strongly every day but fair play to you and your small group of like minded knee jerk reactionaries (good morning Turkish and friends) you keep on managing to fight your ever more indefensible corner. -

You muster up an awful lot of righteous injustice in the Beech case but not one iota of concern when Eleanor Williams falsely accused some Asians of rape. Perhaps a bit of consistency wouldn’t go amiss? As for James O’Brien, was he the only media person to “cosy up” to Beech? Was he the only person to be duped by Beech? Clearly not. But given that O’Brien makes daily mincemeat of the values and the people that you hold dear, you feel the need to dump on him. Have you ever had the bottle to call him up and express your views? No, I doubt if you have the back bone because you know you would would be embarrased even more than you are on here. -

I don’t think it is true that he hates all Tories. He has been quite complimentary about some of the more old school Tories but I would agree that he has no time for Gammons (which is fair enough). It is quite funny listening to him make them look foolish when he gets them trying to defend Brexit, their view on foreigners and their reasons for hating “woke”. It is like shooting fish in a barrel. It is good to hear someone not holding back on their views about the likes of Truss, Johnson, Dorries, Raab, Hancock, Patel, Braverman, Anderson etc, etc, etc given the free ride that they are given in the Tory press. The are not only appalling politicians they are also appalling human beings and at least he has the balls to say on radio what many of us think about them. Personally I prefer Shelagh Forgerty though, not so full on. You are better off sticking with Nick Ferrari, Batman. He sounds much more like your cup of tea. -

I still give that crown to Johnson. As appalling as Truss was, she was out of the door very quickly while Johnson was given more time to f**k up the country, something he seemed to do with relish. James O’Brien on LBC went through a list of his worst moments the other day, as if we needed reminding, and although Truss was a spectacular failure and did a great deal of damage in a very short space of time, Johnson did more damage over a longer period of time. Truss is/was a deluded individual promoted well above her abilities. Johnson is on a whole other level when it comes to his unsuitability for any kind of position that involves responsibility for others and has been his whole life from the point that he declared that he wanted to be King of the World. Truss will be a footnote in the history of the downfall of this country whereas Johnson will occupy several chapters. -

Having sat through the whole proceedings I did wonder whether he had managed to bullshit and blag his way out of another mess. That moment in QT when you expected at least a few hands to go up but none did though gave hope that maybe even the most gullible have now finally seen through his act. The likes of Rees-Mogg and Mad Nad will continue to fight to the end for their messiah but hopefully their loyalty to the worst PM in living history will finish their careers in politics too. It has taken far too long but it does look now, thankfully, that the man is finished in politics. For those who begrudge paying the licence fee, that moment on QT was worth it on its own. -
Wasn’t it changed to allow coaches more time to work with the international squad? They way things are going we won’t have to worry about international breaks next season anyway.

Let us try this one more time as you are obviously struggling with it. The Home Secretary is ultimately responsible for the police in the UK. The Home Secretary is ultimately responsible for the recruitment of the commissioner of the Metropolitan Police. Do you accept that Mayor Sadiq Khan, as the Lord Mayor of London is probably quite a busy man in his day job? So much so that he probably doesn’t have time to run the Met Police on a day to day basis? Do you accept that he probably leaves that to the Commisioner of the Met Police? Do you accept that he didn’t get on particularly well with Cressida Dick? Do you think that was because they were great friends and he thought she was doing a great job? Is it remotely possible that they didn’t get on because he didn’t think she was doing a good job and that he was putting pressure on her to change things? The Casey Report says that he and the commissioner have a disfunctuonsl relationship. Do you think that is because Khan thinks Rowley is doing a great job or because he is not happy with the Met and is pushing for changes? Sadiq Khan is a Muslim, agreed? Do you think that he is happy that the Met have been found to be institutionally racist yet again? Do you think that, not once, he has sat down with the Commissioner and asked what they were doing about it? How embarrassed are you that Labour are now coming across as the party for law and order rather than your Tories? (And before you say that is pony, Starmer said more today about they way forward than Braverman ever has. In fact she even went as far as playing down the severity of the Bailey report the other day). Having read your posts for many years I am now at the point with you where I have to invoke Godwin’s Law. Your constant support for the pathological liar, Boris Johnson, and the nasty, racist Little Englander, Nigel Farage and the fact that you are happy to turn a blind eye to the sort of behaviour amongst polititians that most decent people find abhorrent, leads me to believe that, had you been resident of Germany in the 1930’s, you would have been a fully paid up card carrying member of the Nazi Party. Not once have I seen you call out Johnson for his behaviour. In fact you say you would have him back as London mayor despite everything we know about him and his behaviour. If anyone calls out far right agitators like Tommy Robinson, Katie Hopkins etc, you attack them and never a word of criticism about them or their conduct. Whenever you refer to people of a different country you have to use words like Mick rather than Irish or Sweaty rather than Scottish.Your language and attitude is still rooted in the 1970’s to the extent that I think you much spend your evenings watching reruns of Jim Davidson, Bernard Manning and Love Thy Neighbour. You probably sit there laughing with Alf Garnett rather than at him. To finish, children in London have cleaner air to breath thanks to the work of Sadiq Khan yet to you that is not a good thing. Sadiq Khan is not responsible for the financial cuts made in the Criminal Justice System over the last 13 years yet you lay the blame at his feet. Anyone who has worked in the CJS over the last 13 years will tell you that the problems are down to cuts in resources. I know you will have a problem believing that a right wing government has gone soft on crime, just as Boris Johnson can’t believe that he has done anything wrong over Partygate etc. it goes with the territory. It is all the fault of Lefty Lawyers, Pinkos, immigrants, liberals, LBGT, the Unions. Nothing is ever the fault of the Government, just as we have seen over the years with other authoritarian regimes and are witnessing first hand with Putin. Sorry, one more thing before I leave you. Remind me again what Boris Johnson said when Putin rolled into the Crimea. Try as I might I cannot find anything remotely calling Putin out for his actions from Boris Johnson. Could it be then perhaps that his later attempt to be a poster boy for Ukraine support was more to do with his ratings in the polls than genuine concern for the Ukraine? Surely not! It doesn’t really matter because his type can do no wrong in your eyes as long as he keeps throwing red meat in your direction. -

As I said, the Home Secretary is responsible for appointing the commissioner of the Met. If you have done your research you will know that Mayor Khan was not at all happy with Cressida Dick and is not happy with the current situation with the Met. This is the responsibility of the police, not Khan. So you would like the return of Johnson as London Mayor? I am sure Londoners will have been delighted to learn that Johnson used some of their money to fund his adulterous affair with Jennifer Acuri. He was also responsible for closing down many fire stations but I guess Londoners weren’t bothered about that either. Apparently the vast majority of the success of the London Olympics was down to the hard work of others too despite him taking the credit.I didn’t realised that you lived in London though so you clearly know best. -

I corrected my statement. I am still not aware that calling someone an immigrant is a hanging offence given that we are all immigrants at some point in our family history. I don’t have a problem with Priti Patel because she is a Tory. I have a problem with her because of her inhumane policies. If you bother to engage your brain when reading my posts that would be obvious to you. So, after sitting through 3 hours 20 minutes of Johnson in full Johnson mode, what is absolutely clear is that he has no meaningful relationship with the truth. The truth is whatever he decides to believe at any given moment. Whatever you think about Campbell he is 100% spot on in his assessment of Johnson (despite Batman’s attempt to deflect attention from Johnson by turning it on Campbell). Harmon made a perfect point in summing up, if you are doing 100mph and can see on the speedo that you are doing 100mph, do you need someone else to confirm the speed you are doing? His argument that a leaving do was an essential meeting at work fell apart when asked if he would have said that on tv in the guidance. Of course he would have said no then but he waffled on in an embarrassing attempt to backtrack. Sadly though, the point remains that whilst people were not allowed to be with their loved ones to say their goodbyes, staff in no 10 were able to get drunk and shag in cupboards on Johnson’s watch. There are still people who would have this dreadful man back as PM, that’s how low this country has sunk. I should add that the most bizarre moment for me was watching a congenital liar swear on the bible that he will tell the truth. -

Middle class concerns? But I don’t even have a BBQ or a pizza oven in my shed (I don’t have a garage)! Check your facts Duckie. The Home Office is responsible for the recruitment of the commissioner and Dick resigned because she did not have the confidence of the Mayor’s office, something which surely you are onside with? Instead of posting the type of “pony” that appeals to my daily stalker (still finding time to read this forum despite supposed to be “doing business” in Denmark) perhaps you would be better off doing some research so that, at least, your posts will be more informed rather than the usual knee jerk reactionary rubbish. PS. Is you problem with Khan based on the fact that he is both a “lefty” and a Muslim? Surely a double whammy in your book. I am guessing so because you do not spend a second of your time criticising Johnson or any of the dodgy cabinet members in the Tory party despite shedloads of evidence that they lie and are grossly corrupt and incompetent. -

But he is and he did more to deal with Cressida Dick than the government. Sorry to hear that you have a problem with cleaner air. I bet you were furious when the clean air act was brought in. I guess that you are also happy that Braverman said that she wanted the police force to be more concerned for its own safety than that of the public? This is what you voted for.
