Sadly there are a number of you lot now pushing up daisies just because you thought you knew better than us “sheeple” and refused the vaccine. Go tell your conspiracy theories to the millions around the world who lost loved ones to covid or those still suffering from the after effects of the virus. No doubt there were people like you going around telling people that the Black Death was a “sham” and nothing but a conspiracy in the Middle Ages too.

I had my second booster on Saturday. After a few hours my arm felt like I had been kicked by a mule and felt a bit meh all day yesterday but fine today. I wasn’t sure whether to bother having another booster but, having avoided covid so far, probably don’t have a great deal of resistance and it is on the increase round here again. Heard yesterday that on old friend of my parents has just passed away from it. Went into hospital with pneumonia and then contracted covid whilst in hospital and that finished him off. It appears that there are still serious complications to be had from long covid. Despite what MLT says, I think I’d rather take my chances with the vaccine than with the virus.

If they have decided to replace him before the World Cup, the most important thing is to get the new appointment right. If that takes a bit more time, so be it.

The current Prime Minister was elected by Tory Party members after a selection process in which MP’s voted in a process that gave the party members a choice of 2 candidates. To say that the PM was chosen by MPs is incorrect. The country did not vote for Truss and she has no mandate. There is absolutely nothing remotely Democratic about this process. If a Tory Party leader stood on her manifesto at a general election it is more than likely they they would not get elected. We should have an election and let the people decide if they want this party with their undemocratically elected leader to continue in no 10.

You don’t think that the people who own the club have anything to do with the major decisions within it?
-
I totally agree with you up to a point. I don’t think that some people think that “huge success” is just a manager away, but I do think that many have unrealistic expectations for a club of our resources and size. Being an average, mid table club for us season after season with good cup runs is not an unreasonable expectation. To be playing regularly in what we are told is the best league in the world is no mean feat for an average sized club. There are plenty of clubs like us who have been languishing in the lower leagues for years.

Wrong thread Duckie. Surely you are talking about Boris Johnson?

I don’t see a problem with 3 tax bands, basic, one for high earners and one for the super high earners. The thresholds for the bands, certainly the first two, need to be increased. As for the super earners, I wonder how many of them pay what they are supposed to here? I imagine their money is squirrelled away in off shore accounts. As someone said in a phone in the other day, the trickle down economy is a myth. It is a trickle up economy. Working people spend their money. The rich use it to make more or sit on it.

Did you read all of the replies or just the ones that suit your agenda? Another person said they had been quoted 9.4%. Clearly the offers depend on individual circumstances but whichever way you cut it, the rises are financially crippling. And why lie? It’s pretty obvious that people will check her claim. Perhaps you should just read books instead of spending all day on Twitter looking for things to post on here? Or get a job.

Whilst I am not usually a fan of Polly Toynbee, she nails the Tory UKIPpers nicely here. https://amp.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2022/sep/26/labour-policies-election-shadow-chancellor-borrowing-tory-voters

Thank you but I think that you will find that Turkish holds that honour (the troll that is). As for Patel’s plan to send immigrants to Rwanda, I can only assume that you support it which makes you just as despicable as she is.

As you well know Batman, what makes me angry is her policies, not her skin colour.

There is very little to be happy about right now, but, finally, large numbers of people who voted for this government have finally seen the error of their ways and are talking about changing their vote at the next election. Starmer looks and sounds like a credible PM. The polls are making a mockery for those who said that the Tories couldn’t do any worse than Corbyn. Starmer is a decent, honest man who wants to do right by the majority of people in this country. We have had a succession of Tory leaders who have been incrementally more incompetent than the last and we are left with Truss. Dear God. The only thing that defies belief is that there are still people who support her and her morally bankrupt party. The upcoming Tory Party Conference should be a hoot.

I don’t know how many hours of footage have been shown since Russia waged war on Ukraine but do you honestly believe that it is all fake? You talk about manipulation but you seem to be on a one mam mission from Team Putin to try and manipulate what we can all see are barbaric atrocities on innocent people as fake news.

So people of a different ethnicity use it’s a derogatory term about others of a different ethnicity who support “white” policies over those that would support there own? I am not defending the racist nature of some of her comments, when I say she has a point it is when people of their ethnicity support what could be described as racist policies brought in by the current government against immigrants and racial minorities. As said, a prime example is shipping immigrants off to Rwanda. As an immigrant herself, it is not unreasonable to call Patel out for this particular policy. Patel and Kwarteng have both supported government policies that weren’t helpful towards racial minorities. Did either of them say a word when the former Prime Minister made his infamous racist remarks? And as for Batman’s faux outrage about racist remarks, that’s a bit rich given the years he has spent having a pop at immigrants and Muslims.
-
How do you know that I live in a 98% white town and what difference does that make anyway Batman? Perhaps you think that I knocked on every door in the village before we moved in to check the ethnicity of the neighbours? Perhaps consider Patel’s Rwanda policy and views on immigration tell me they don’t mirror these of people like yourself? As you spend so much time there, perhaps go look at Twitter and the response from many from the black/brown communities. They seem to agree with her. That’s what makes it so farcical about the fuss made about the diversity levels within the Tory party. Judging by the policies that these people support, you wouldn’t know that they were members of ethnic minorities. And before you go off on one again, I don’t think that her comments were very wise and Labour have done the right thing in suspending the whip.
-
I probably can’t say this now, but didn’t they used to be known as “coconuts?” Black on the outside and white on the inside. Nick Ferrari was swamped with calls from the black community on LBC this morning supporting what she said. The thing is, when it comes to the policies that he and the likes of Priti Patel have implemented and/or supported, she has a point.

I don’t know if you have any children or grandchildren, but I find it very sad that you think it is funny that the people you and people like you put in power are making such an unholy mess of our and their lives and futures.

More “misinformation” for us suckers https://amp.theguardian.com/world/2022/sep/26/putin-ally-yevgeny-prigozhin-admits-founding-wagner-mercenary-group

Apparently we are all “suckers” yet he who swallows Vlad’s spin hook line and sinker is well informed. Go figure.

When the cure is killing the patient, perhaps best find a new cure? What do we have to do to force a general election?

Sad news. 70 is no great age nowadays. I am halfway through Wolf Hall and her writing style is amazing. She clearly does an awful lot of research and gets under the skin of her characters and the times in which they lived. A great loss to the literary world. RIP.

The irony is on all of the turkeys who voted for Christmas. All those Labour voters who were suckered by Johnson and are now witnessing the Tory Party sticking two fingers up to them (I wonder how well the Red Wall voters sleep now) whilst looking after their rich buddies. This country just sinks lower and lower.
