  1. Probably because talking to Unionists was less problematic maybe?
  2. I’d rather be pitifully thick than insufferably arrogant. You are entitled to your view about Corbyn and his role in the peace process as are others. I don’t agree that he had nothing to do with it whatsoever. If he didn’t why are we even discussing his dialogue with Sinn Fien? He was talking to them before others joined in, hence the grief he attracted.
  3. Since when has peace been against the national interest. Everyone involved in the peace process deserves credit. I am not a Labour supporter but the vilification of Corbyn by the right wing media (as well as the vilification of the EU) has been appalling over the last few years. We now have a PM worthy of some heavy duty criticism and guess what, he is given an easy ride.
  4. I agree. If there has been a falling out between Gao and Kat that shouldn’t make any difference to passing a football or putting in tackles.
  5. Remind me again what position she plays in? I seem also to remember getting 4 top ten finishes with her in charge. The players are to blame. We have a squad capable of finishing mid table but they are not performing.
  6. As an MP he had every right and was one of many who played a role in the peace protest. To try and make him out as some kind of terrorist is the lazy characterisation of the right wing press. I worked in London during the height of the IRA bombings and I for one are very happy that some people made the effort to engage in a process that led to a cease fire. One of those people was Corbyn.
  7. Have you got a new job with the Daily Mail?
  8. I should add that despite Thatcher stating that we don’t talk to terrorists, apparently there were plenty of discussions with them behind closed doors.
  9. As Churchill said, “jaw jaw is better than war war.” As unpalatable as it is to talk to people like that it is the only way to get a peace agreement.
  10. I think it would have helped if May had put a cross party committee together and had made an effort to involve Parliament in the negotiating process from day 1. It was always going to be a tough ask getting any sort of deal through but not only did she manage to fail to win over the opposition, she also alienated many in her own party.
  11. Trying to find a positive tonight. We still have time to put things right...
  12. My feelings too.
  13. They should be absolutely ashamed of themselves tonight. Many of them have represented their countries. How can they then go out and perform like this?
  14. Over the years I have been described as a happy clapper and I accept that I have always tried to find a level of optimism. Tonight I am a beyond being embarrassed. WTF is going on here?
  15. The only upside is that something has to change, big time, now.
  16. Neither of them were on the pitch. The players are responsible.
  17. He is a good manager. Your choice of Fat Sam would do no better with this lot.
  18. Good to see the Grammar Police still at it while the team are being demolished
  19. Pellegrino is available
  20. If SFC was a horse they would of shot it by now.
  21. I am old enough to remember when we were difficult to beat at home but were pants away. Now I wish we played all our games away.
  22. Ralph has probably realised that we arent going to score 6 so has gone for damage limitation.
  23. I hadn’t thought of that but yes, that would be a problem.
  24. I had not long started working for The Guardian when my Dad phoned me up. He never phoned me at work so I was expecting bad news. It came as a very pleasant surprise.
  25. The problem is the number of cars on the road v our expenditure on infrastructure to accommodate them. From the day it opened the M25 wasn’t fit for purpose. Planers hadn’t factored in people jumping on and off for one or two junctions. Utilised the hard shoulder is a relatively cheap way to give you another lane. The issue is that it is there for a completely different purpose and provides a crucial space for those who need it. The emergency vehicles couldn’t get to the accident I saw for ages do to there not being a hard shoulder for them to drive on. They had to work their way through the traffic jam.
