Personally I am delighted that the verdict is being challenged by the way.

I am saying that if the family say they are satisfied with the verdict and sentence and don't feel they can go through with any more of this, the prosecutors need to take that on board. That seemed to be their position after the sentence but they may well have changed their minds after discussing the situation with the prosecution team.

I'd say it has a great deal to do with the family. The prosecution would not just go ahead and appeal without consulting the family.

I said it was interesting because the mother and father both seemed to be done with it all. Clearly they have changed their minds. If the verdict is overturned and they get a successful murder verdict the sentence will have to change. If they are not successful with the verdict appeal then the sentence will come under review.

I dont care about any of this. He comes across like some jumped up 6th form student on speed and I find him hugely irritating. The media are obsessed by people like Brand because they are good copy and divide opinion. It is a shame they cant pick people who are less controversial and up their own backsides more intelligent and personable. Julie Burchill is another media whore who has made a whole career about being "outspoken" and "controversial." It is not big and it is not clever.

I'd picked up on the packed bag earlier. It looked like there could well have been a big argument between them and she was going to leave that night. I think she was supposed to have eaten something not long before she was shot too which would indicate that she had been up for a while.

Sadly it would appear so, yes. As you can imagine, high profile international cases like this attract a lot of interest (as did the OJ Simpson case). Most of our lawyers do not prosecute in the Crown Court but we do have a few Crown Advocates who do this work and it is interesting getting their take on these cases. Still, no matter what we think about the evidence, it has to convince the jury (or in this case the judge) and some of the most solid cases we get often fail in court.

Every parent has clearly read this directive and will do precisely this instead of go out and look for the child in case she has wandered off. I'll ask you the same question I asked Fry, Tim. Do you have children of your own? I will also ask how do you know they are missing unless you have checked the immediate area and checked with the neighbours (unless all of the people were in the Tapas bar of course!). But silly me, they should have been at home in case their child called. Maddy must have had a mobile phone with her. D'oh.

He is the guy who investigated the disappearence. He has 27 years police experience. You may well disagree with his conclusion but it is no less believable than a random person breaking into the apartment, taking the child and leaving without leaving any signs of a forced break in and abduction.

You still havent answered my question. Do you have children of your own. If you found a child missing - apart from notifying the authorities dont you think the first thing you would do is look for them? Unless of course you know there is no point.
