The right leaning Telegraph seem to think that the rioters are “far right.” https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/08/03/southport-attack-latest-sunderland-riots-spread/
-
The government are talking about the riots and the riots are predominantly caused by organised gangs of far right thugs ( or a few lads with racist views, cheeky scamps, eh?). There is a far right. You all pretend that you are not but it is very clear that there is a far right movement in this country with plenty of mouthpieces on social media stirring up hatred against minority groups. Perhaps you missed Tommy Robinson’s rally in London recently? It was attended by more than a few lads with racist views. Perhaps you were there? You constantly claim that there is no far right when it is clearly obvious there is. You constantly claim that there isn’t a resurgence of far right politics across Europe when there clearly is. You constantly ignore the fact that “our birds” as you put it, are more likely to be sexually assaulted by a family remember of another Anglo-Saxon like yourself than by an immigrant. It isn’t immigrants who are the problem, it is those people here who have no tolerance of anyone who is different to them. Who find reasons to tar all others with the same brush because it suits their agenda. Who blame minority groups for everything at every chance. You are quick to infer that we are at danger from immigrants/foreigners while dismissing the current riots as a bit of a rumble by a few lads, bless ‘em. People like you are doing the work for the likes of Farage and Robinson on social media platforms. You are part of the problem this country faces along with the other likeminded, laughing emoji freaks.

Fair enough. Do you know if Nigel Farage has called for an end to the rioting yet? He might have done but I haven’t seen a full report.
-
This thread is called solving the problem of immigration. It seems as though the far right and those who make excuses for them solution is to attack mosques, attack peaceful locals who have different coloured skin, set fire to police cars and buildings, loot stores. These are people fighting for British values and to get their country back. If these are British values and getting our country back means more racial intolerance from far right thugs, I’d rather not thanks. And for those desperately trying to pretend that the rioting isn’t being driven by far right thugs and blatant Islamophobia, you are deluded and just as bad as those throwing bricks.

If you are referring to the Manchester airport incident then four men were arrested and are currently on police bail. What is your point?

What is he afraid of? Not prepared to go on stage unless the live fact checker is not used. https://thehill.com/homenews/media/4808075-nabj-trump-interview-fact-check-kamala-harris/amp/

Like “reds under the bed?” https://amp.theguardian.com/world/2023/jun/30/far-right-on-the-march-europe-growing-taste-for-control-and-order You don’t have a problem with the rise of far right politics because you seem to agree with them.
-
Only these moronic racist thugs are not under the bed are they? They are visiting a town near you soon, looting, attacking the police and anyone who looks different, targeting mosques. They are also fuelled by the bloke you call “Nige.”
-
For the same reasons they get upset at footballers, or anybody else, indicating their opposition towards racism.
-
If you mention Tommy Robinson on here some people get upset. It seems his name gets chanted at every riot recently so perhaps him and his far right agitators are a problem after all? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cnl0lkrxgvxo.amp

Have you read the article? (Perhaps they were demonstrating how their American counterparts restrained George Floyd?)

It would appear that they are a woman. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/articles/cye0ex43k63o.amp

The narrative being used by the rioters now seems to be shifting to an alleged two tier policing system. This (very long) article is written by a former police office in regard to that allegation. Worth a read for the open minded. https://thehaveringdaily.co.uk/2024/07/26/two-tier-policing-is-it-a-myth-or-fact/

I’m struggling with this. The same people who tell us that if you are born with the male reproductive system you can’t be a woman are now arguing that a person born with the female reproductive system isn’t a woman??

This is what British values are all about, not inciting violence when a community is grieving. https://www.thelondoneconomic.com/news/hero-builder-helps-rebuild-wall-of-southport-mosque-380150/amp/

If only black people knew their place. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1968_Olympics_Black_Power_salute (Martin Luther King had been assassinated a few months previously). Yes hypo, isn’t the assassination of MLK and racism funny.

It has given me unbridled joy to finally finish Wolf Hall. It’s only taken 3 years! An excellent book but a bit dense and not an easy read so I would often put it down and not pick it up again for months. I can now make a start on a small pile of Bill Bryson books I have accumulated recently, which is good news. (The not so good news is that I still have two massive tomes to wade through from the Wolf Hall trilogy).

If you read my post again I didn’t say I agreed with the 20mph limit as has been implemented in Wales. My point is that it must be difficult to raise the limit back to 30mph when there is clear evidence that the lower limit saves lives. We don’t have any 20mph limit areas around here but you are lucky if you can drive any faster around schools during term time and in the town centre during the day. I don’t see a problem with a lower limit or effective traffic calming measures around schools during term time or in areas with heavy pedestrian use though. You mention bikes, those along with electric cars can be a serious problem in built up areas as you can’t hear them coming. It might be an inconvenience for those wanting to get from A to B as quickly as possible, but the safety of pedestrians is also a consideration is it not? We did come across a 20mph zone in Cornwall a few weeks back which was odd as it was in the outskirts of the town, there was no school in the road, it was a wide, residential road with houses on one side and a wooded area on the other. We used it frequently as we had rented a property nearby and not once did it seem as if a 20mph limit made sense. There is another issue in that it can be hard to drive a modern car for any distance at low speeds. The argument is that the original 30 mph speed limit was introduced when there were far fewer cars on the roads and they weren’t as powerful. My old Triumph Herald would feel like it took an age to get up to 30/40mph whereas cars now are there before you know it. It seems perfectly reasonable to have a discussion/review about national speed limits given the data we now have from the implementation of a lower limit in Wales. As for the pile on comments. You might have a different view if you had been the subject to them over the years. As others have noted, the same people will find a reason for a dig no matter what I post. It is the same people, time and again. Yes, everyone is allowed to have a view, everyone is allowed to satirical, but when it becomes a daily sport for some it not only becomes tiresome for everybody, it is basic bullying. There are a couple of posters who do call these people out, but in the absence of any meaningful interventions from the mod, do you just expect me to swallow it? You don’t . Why should I? If my posts are such a problem for some, perhaps just ignore them?

I remember you being deeply disrespectful about Ray Wilkins when he passed away because of drink driving. Later you accused my parish council of “spoiling people’s fun” by running a traffic speed survey in the village one weekend. So, endangering lives by drink driving is very bad. Endangering lives by speeding down narrow roads through a small village is “fun.” A bet you are a barrel of laughs down at the Farage Arms, regailing stories to your buddies about the people diving into hedges as you tear through the local villages. We all know the type.
-
You used to respond in a measured way. You just sound like Weston now. Why not engage sensibly with the issue? I remember you changing your user name because no one was taking you seriously this is why. The issue is about appropriate speeds for vehicles in built up areas. As you know they are currently 30 mph but some areas have brought in a 20 mph limit. The discussion is around the 30mph/20mph limits, not lowering them further or banning cars. But then you know that don’t you 🙄
-
Remind me who the government were in 2020 and therefore responsible for dealing with civil unrest. Also, how is siding with the movement against racism the same as acting to deal with extreme activists who are intent of confronting the police, destroying property and looting? You find it funny Delldays? Were you at Whitehall yesterday lobbing flares around by any chance?

No surprise that the casualty figures are down with the lower speed limit. The 20mph limit is very unpopular though. Will the figures make any difference in attitudes or will people still be happy to trade another 10mph for a higher death toll? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cydvr2rnm4ro.amp
