I agree. if not 2nd then up through the play offs. Nigel inherited a good set up and some decent players. His real work will begin next season. It will be interest to see the players he brings in. It will also be interesting to see how much money he is given to strengthen the squad.

My point excactly. I think we have more in the locker. I don't think we have the best team in this league but we do have several of the best individuals. If we can win so often when we are not firing on all cylinders for 90 mins we should be home and dry if Adkins can get the whole team playing consistently through the ranks. But even if not, we have enough match winners in the side to get the job done.

It does all sound a bit odd doesn't it? Plus the indecent haste in which the body was allegedly dumped in the sea. The days when the good guys wore white hats and the bad guys wore black hats were over years ago (if they ever actually existed). We were fed a pack of lies about the so called weapons of mass destruction, whose to say that this fella had anything to do with 9-11? And now he will never be found guilty in a court of law. One thing is for certain, the world just became a more dangerous place, not a safer one.

Given that we always seem to trip ourselves us with these games in hand it is a worry. But the form of late and team spirit should carry us through. We haven't been playing particuarly well but we have been winning. The good news is that it is in our own hands and we have an extra game. I am sure we shall be okay. Fair play to Huddersfield too. I hope they go up through the pay offs.

Unfortunately where I work I see the results of this all of the time. Some women think it is ok to turn on blokes. Trouble is some blokes then think it is ok to go and take what they want. I we had stuck with Pardew how do you know we wouldn't already be promoted? Just because the mighty Alpine has decided that Pardew is rubbish doesn't mean to say he wouldn't have delivered this year. Afterall, he brought most of the quality players we have into this squad and had a good first season despite the minus 10 handicap. Fair play to Adkins for his work this season but Pardew should take some credit for laying the foundations.

We should hae beaten Spurs. Funnell missed a sitter Gutted that we didn't go up as Champions that season but at leat we went up. I was at Orient and ended up on the pitch surround just as the wall collapsed. Scary moment but great night. I actually walked off the pitch with he players at the final whistle. These days I would have been escorted away by the boys in blue!

You should be able to wear a football shirt of your choosing anywhere without getting attacked. Scum.

Thing is, once they go - no more Royal weddings, state funerals etc. An "active" monarchy, for all of is faults, does generate a lot more business for GB than a dead one.

You could argue that they are not elected but given some of the buffoons that have got the job in the USA and other parts of the world perhaps it is better to keep some kind of Royal thing going as notional Head of State? Get shot of the irritating minor royals though and give the job to William once Liz pops her royal clogs. The royal family needs to be updated and the royal list trimmed back, but this stuff does still generate a lot of dosh through tourism. If we were to become a Republic, how would you feel with people like Blair lining up for the job as President? Where's the harm in some nice benign old lady waving and opening the few hospitals we can afford?

Just for the record Alps, I hanker for the days when we were playing in the top flight year after year and playing in the F A Cup final. The people you refer to so disparagingly made that happen. I hope the new people can do just as well as there are probably people on here who have only known one or two years of top flight football. It can't have been easy keeping things going on gates of 15k. It must be easier to be ambitious now with no debts.

I have been a Saints fan since 1966. In that time we have been promoted twice, both as runners up. The best we can do this time is runners up too. We have never won a league in that time and the only heavy duty trophy win was the FA Cup, once. Despite spending a lot of cash we are not the best club in the third tier of English football this season. Can we just stop with the superior nonsense please?
