Ask people with brown skin, black skin, Muslims, Jews about their daily experiences, the vast majority of which are not recorded or make the news. Ask the people who fronted the Black Lives Matter campaign or the take the knee protests. Read the reports about institutional racism in police forces. If you are standing in a queue in a supermarket and someone walks past you and tells you to go back to your own country, do you think that a league table will make any difference to how you feel?

We had a perfectly good goal ruled out. I watched the game with a friend of mine who is a United supporter and he said that we were the better team and they were lucky to win. We probably would have beaten them if VVD had been playing. As for the playing style. Win first, entertain second.

A tolerant country doesn’t need to tie hundreds of flags to lampposts and motorway bridges. A tolerant country doesn’t have Farage/Reform leading in the polls. That tolerance started to dissipate the day after we left the EU and things aren’t getting any better. It doesn’t help when people play it down either.

What worries me is that he identifies Stephens as the only “leader” in the group. He isn’t the only one who has said this. The lack of strong characters has long been identified as a problem in various squads over recent years and it speaks volumes that the only “leader” we have is one of our poorest players. If there is no stand out candidate from those that have been considered so far it makes perfect sense to leave him in place until either there is or he has shown enough over several games to be given the job full time.

Given our performances whoever we have been playing over the last couple of years it is unusual for us to win three games in a row. We were expecting to do this regularly when we dropped but down didn’t we? It is all about perspective, just before this run of three matches we were just above the relegation zone, couldn’t score and couldn’t defend and were so poor we sacked the manager. What were the odds of winning the next three games and in one of them scoring 4 goals in 8 minutes?

And yet we haven’t managed to do so since the season before last.

Irrespective of who we are playing, when was the last time we won three on the bounce? Why not? As I have explained many times before there are a few posters on here I can’t be bothered with but occasionally I chose to read something they have posted. Sometimes it is because I can see their posts quoted in another post so want to get a handle on what is going on. Sometimes it makes sense to read what they have been saying to follow the line of a thread. Sometimes it is out of basic curiosity to see what they had to say in response to something else. I might be happy to read a certain poster’s post in the football section but want to avoid the same poster in the Lounge. The whole point being that I have a choice whether to look at it or not rather than just have to wade through stuff I can’t be bothered with most of the time. I can understand why nic might not be able to get his head around the concept but can’t see why you have an issue with it. You would have a point if I said I ignore every post that xyz sends but as I seem to have to say every few months, I use the ignore function as a filter. I’m sure others do to. It is particularly good for dealing with forum stalkers and I picked up one or two of those over the years. If you don’t understand how it works, put me on ignore. You are then given the choice of reading the post if you want to or even taking me off ignore again. If you want. I find the feature usual and the people who originally put this site together obviously thought the same.
