I remember going down the docks to see the QE2. Grandad's comment was that it wasn't properly built as you could see all it's ribs 😄 I think he meant it wasn't riveted together but welded ! He was a machinist in the docks , Dad worked on diesel engine boats in the war including one of the D day command boats , he and fellow engine mechanics were allowed up to see the operation room with a scale 3D model of one section of the Normandy beaches .

I can assure you that not many people in Kent are either but thanks to brexit we have taken control of our borders . Unfortunately it has cost our economy £40 Billion so far and migrants think the UK is a better bet as it's not in the EU so no going back. Who'd of thought it ?

My point is that P&O has been what we now call a brand so despite there being different firms with P&O in the title the general public will think of P&O as connected but I understand your point that the P&O cruise firm are a good employer !

I have and that may be true but to have P&O as a sponsor means they can be identified with P&O ferries who are not thought of highly in Kent.

There was a big protest about P&O when they sacked all their staff as it affected people in Kent . P&O got away with it as Govt doesn’t seem to have much control over anything relating to international business . Companies find it easy to , on paper , sell bits off etc to get their way in the end . I don’t know what the real situation is between P&O and P&O . It’s difficult to believe people like Green ran a chain of shops in the UK while all the £ was siphoned off via numerous offshore trusts ending up in another trust in his wife's name in Monaco.
