we will see within 6 weeks, if he is still here after 2years he will be seen as a marginal success. If he turns us into the club we had 6months ago playing great football etc he won't be here or be snapped up by CL club . It is a sad indictment, but realistic.

Contracts and Football - How could the game change?
OldNick replied to Torrent Of Abuse's topic in The Saints
All it needs is for clubs to grow a pair. If a player is on a long contract throw them into the reserves for a few weeks. Any player who is out with a longterm injury doesn't threaten to strike or put negatives on Twitter. -
Let's see how he does in the PL first, we may be delighted he's gone

I. The highlights we looked tone playing some decent stuff. Quite encouraging

BBC Article - The inside story of the great Southampton sell-off
OldNick replied to Donatello's topic in The Saints
It states that Shaw asked for a move after the game, would have KRueger known that as he did his interview telling us no interest or offers? -
You are wrong, he could have doubled his wages. I was lucky to have an insight into the dressing room from a mate in those seasons good and bad. KD really cares. Once having Rudi and the Dutch defender both by the throat at halftime because they didn't care enough. I don't know KD but he is a very important part of our climb up the leagues

Linvoys Afro used to post on Saints4ever openly as a Skate

perhaps the word 'your' may be telling

it makes me sick, there we have 4-5 players who moved on for higher standard football and big wage rises and the ONLY player who has resisted gets all the sly digs and any goal that goes in is always his fault. KD could have signed for WHU for a massive wage rise, and about to sign but after talking to NC who persuaded him to stay and be part of the great things he had in mind for us. He turned the money and PL football down to play for us in L1. His outstanding performances in many games saved us vital points in both promotions. A lot of you should be ashamed. We grizzle when players leave for big money and when they don't you go and use them for scapegoats

he is a very good brave defender. I would be delighted to get him to us
-
Im not sure Fonte will be captain, if we havent offered him a contract. I also suggest a large section of fans didnt think he should be first choice anyway
-
Yep if you can buy him.
-
i think you have misread that. The majority will welcome him and if he gives us some good performances he will be accepted. Just frustrating he is not a signing rather than loan p

Southampton here Southampton there we'll sell our players anywhere
-
factually incorrect Bearsy, the ice cream seller needs to offer him one and then close the window on him. Lol
-
. When Reed arrived the manuals were dumped straight into the bin
-
I haven't seen a lot of him but he had a good reputation, at least he is deemed quality. Are loans going to give it all if things get tough, as they can run back to their mother club? I suppose he will help bring a youngster through in his position that we can sell in a couple of years
-
yes you are right. Many would take it as to strengthen the squad now. Of course he could argue it is over a decade. All playing with words and duping people/fans
-
reading some of the posts on here today just shows how powerful a few words from the club do. The unrest has been quashed and his hollow words have been lapped up. Seriously are fans that gullible to believe we are going to spend 90m (In fact i think he said all the transfer money in) on new players and wages? It was mentioned a couple of weeks ago that on any in-comings the transfer fee was not going to be published, it will be hard to see how much has been spent.

Kelvin Davis more likely.

He is staying is the point. You can point to contracts as much as you like but if the clubs board only develop a backbone when most of the horse has bolted , you are lost. I do not expect Barclay will stay,by the way
-
yep, but we were told the players are off at a drop of a hat and the clubs can do nothing. If the club had said no when Lovren played up we would all be able to focus on football. We have some crucial games early in the season that may be important come the end. Not good preparation
-
Well Barkley has just said hes staying at Everton and signed a four year contract, when are their CL games?
-
I suggest that the fairy tales started when him and Reed did their early interviews for the media, some lapped it up others pointed out it was the Wilde bunch markII

So are people thinking that the no sale of Morgan was always the plan? It seems to me that the St Marys switchboard was overwhlemed by fans demanding ticket money back etc. Panic in the boardroom and a kneejerk reaction and things said that cant possibly work out. The club will spend 90m on players and wages, right i believe it (of course that could mean the whole club salary) We have been baulking on the price of 1 player.
