  1. I wasnt able to go that season and so wasnt actually at the games and so my viewpoint is somewhat skewed. What I did get from the games I could see on the TV, was that it was tedious football, I called it kalidiescope(speling lol )football, lots of very pretty patterns but went nowhere. We did fall over the line after some ridiculous bad performances and other lucky reults. Ok we did get some great wins, the fightback from 2 down to the relegated Huddersfield of that season, a draw against Rotherham but other enjoyable last minute wins at Millwall etc. I do feel that he got lucky as Bazunu got injured and Mcarthy came in and helped solidify our defence. To be fair after the abysmal defeat at home to Stoke, he did pull the rabbit out of the hat by changing the way we played by beating Leeds twice and WBA, it all ended on that wonderful Wembley day. After that game I spoke to Leeds fans and said at least they would have a fun season the followig year whilst we would be suffering. They thought we'd do ok, but sadly we know what happened. I was never convinced by him but as with most maangers I tried to support him as I had hoped he would be pragmatic, sadly his vanity project failed and he slinked down the tunnel at SMS before halftime at 4-0 down, missing the fifth goal. I will always appreciate those 2 games WBA at SMS and Wembley, memories that live forever, funnily enough it wasnt the football it was the fans that gave me that feeling and joy. The joy of celebrating with fellow Saints and the atmposphere they brought was more that AA's goal
  2. I had thought that. I saw his 2 goals and whilst they went in, there was not a lot of power in the shots.
  3. Be careful dont get caught in a trap
  4. A big beautiful deal would be had
  5. Seems Sunderland and Leeds got their deals done early, I knowthey are in the PL but it is so frustrating. I feel the club did push their luck trying to get a bit more for TD and now that has left us hamstrung
  6. Jobie McInNuff is pretty sound IMO
  7. No im thinking of Meghoma (Spelling), he left us for Brentford and went on loan to PNE (I think). My granddaughter went to school with his sister, near Romsey
  8. Is that the Meghoma that was at Saints who went on loan to PNE? As i feel there was another player at Brentford with a similar name

Fair point but Flynn is a spoiler and that is never something that gets you international caps. The great Jimmy Case never got his fair amount of those either

All a matter of opinion, he did run around a lot ill give you that. JWP was a darling with a lot of fans foronereason and that was hs eyecatching free kicks, they have disappeared. I was not surprised when he said last season in an interview he doesnt practice them. Having no real strength or pace is a major hindrence, and that stopped his delelopment, aso having negative , safe managers also didnt help

IMHO Flynn is superior to JWP. Flynn is a ball winner and does not ty to do anything more, JWP does try to be a ball winner but not with the same ferocity
  12. I dont think that's is correct StC, of course with modern day stats what constitutes a save its hard to tell where the stats come from lol

he was a good servant but for a few years nobody could work out his best postition, and a few managers were just as perplexed trying to fit him in. Spectacular free kicks put him in a different bracket, but generally he was tidy but uninspiring with his play. Yes he worked really hard but his pace was a big problem, and sadly his first thought was to go sideways or backwards, not in a positive direction forward. I understand some would be down to the managers he played under, the all seemed a breed of not losing the ball and not to take risks. If he did come back I would of course accept it but there is no way he could justify 100k a week wages that apparently he is on now.

Its like reading Shakespeare, I do agree
  15. Aplayer is about to shoot 'Maguieeeeeeeeeerrrrrrr' at the top of his voice, as the ball enters row Z
  16. Dont be unkind, you know he was better than Messi the way he says how it should have been done lol
  17. Sugagawa ducked as though he was fearful of getting hit, my god if Chaplin had scored!!!

Yep and that was enough for me, I want the refresh that seems to be on the cards. Whilst there is still a lot of playing around the back, there does seem to be a more, lets get it into the box or shoot policy. Going back to the sideways backwards football that JWP provided and Im not keen. It still amamazes me that when the one time JWP was given a more attacking role he looked fantastic away at Everton, scoring 2 goals. Then never again, it was incredible. I cant recall what manager was in charge, but it did seem the way to get the best from him.

It may be wishful thinking to you/others but to me Im quite happy having JWPfree team. Im tired of seeing the ball recycled more that a Durex at a Bonnie Blue bang thanks very much
  20. I ownder if the new goalkeeping coach has been instramental is giving him an extra confidence/swagger again. It is important that he does become a top keeper. Obviously a keeper is always one mistake away from being seen as the worst in a clubs history lol
  21. Of course we also bought him with the view of selling him for a large profit, not to just play him for the rest of his career

    V J day

To this day Japan has not apologised for their actions. Despicable. There was an antique/secondhand dealer who was a survivor of the Jap camp, he had the foresite to around the camp in the early days and get all the paper books he could find and sold it as toilet paper as the dysentry took hol. The proceeds he could buy stuff to survive off the guards
  23. Hes a wobber and a wogue
  24. He is brilliant in my book. He does his best and really whats the point of the press conference as the managers are always guarded or unwilling to spill the beans. Crikey under Ted Bates etc you only got a quote one a mnth , or so it appeared. Our only source was the Echo and a signing was done before anybody knew and so more exciting
  25. Even if clubs want to keep a player to build the agents manipulate things so that a move is made. So difficult even the big clubs have players unsettled by others. It seems the CL is such a draw and so players want to gravitate to there
