Not sure there can be too many complaints from folk about that team, fair play to Still. Baz, THB, Stephens all dropped as people have been clamouring for. Downes possibly hard done by after Liverpool but he’s been shite this season. Down to the players now then to put in an appropriate performance

Chocolate Wrists / Two Left Feet Pete Jelert Stephens Wood Quarshie Manning Downes Charles Fellows/Armstrong Scienza Archer
-
Did you miss Newcastle away last season?
-
I wouldn’t start either as well if I was in charge, but the fact is Stephens is captain and he is going to play most weeks. THB has been by far our worst CB this season. I think it’s negligible with the GK’s either way - Bazunu does some things better, McCarthy does others. They’re both shite and it’s embarrassing that they’re our GK options.
-
THB has been much worse than Stephens. Neither of our Goalkeepers are any good.
-
Cynic in me wonders if he’s playing down the performance so the usual suspects can all come back in on Saturday.
-
Wood has been our best defender this season by far (not a high bar tbf), he deserves to play. Stephens will no doubt be back but I’d love to see Quarshie back in instead of THB.
-
Let’s hope McCarthy puts in a very good display tomorrow, so he can keep his spot from there.
-
I think you’ll find that Maggie the Tea lady is ultimately the tactical genius.

No I don’t think that. If you read what I posted, you’d see that I’ve said I think the job appears too big for him. The point I’m making is I don’t think appointing another manager miraculously fixes everything and makes us promotion candidates. The club is rotten to the core.
-
I don’t think it’s that simple with the state we’re in as a club at the moment.
-
He also wouldn’t have his assistant manager with him (current Sheff Weds manager) who according to some of their fans was the brains behind the operation.

I’m sad / gutted / fed up with the whole situation. It’s just hard to see where we go from here. 6 games and a whole pre-season in and we have no style, patterns of play, or any redeeming features whatsoever. A whole week to build up to this game and we look even worse. Is it going to get any better? It’s hard to see. I agree with @S-Clarke though - getting rid of Still isn’t going to fix this. The guy has shown in his managerial career so far that he’s not shite, but maybe this job is too big for him. But if we do pull the trigger then what? Whose next? Another manager who’ll be given next to no time by the fans who (rightly) are sick to death of the SR tenure. The new manager would have to get off to a flying start, which with the abject failure we have ridden through some of this squad, along with the general malaise around the club, isn’t going to happen. It’s going to get worse before it gets better, which is a really naff thought. Any shoots of hope would be welcome, but there just isn’t any.

Crap game and mediocre result. In hindsight probably the worst time for us to play them. Lack of any style still is a concern, though that isn’t going to come until we have a settled team (of at least 9 or 10) and formation. Still got things to sort with the attacking personnel - is Archer the right striker? I don’t think so. Hoping Jander can be the player to help us play through the lines. Downes (and Charles) just aren’t that player.
-
They didn’t, they loaned another GK from Luton as an emergency and the 54 year old didn’t even make the bench.
-
Hope he brings this brutality to the skates game.
-
Are they taking the piss out of Lambert with the glass of water? Quality if so
-
They’re still spending the Coutinho money FFS, leave them alone.
-
Amen to that.

Despite some very good business on paper, plus removal of a fair amount of dross, hard to give this anymore than a 6 really (at this point in time). GK still a massive blind spot, Bazunu not good enough for a hopeful auto challenger. Defence I like the arrival of Mads. Jelert seems decent on paper, I also think Quarshie gives us something different and given time could be a key player. But the fact we still have Stephens starting every game is a nonsense really. Midfield, Jander looks a good signing. Charles and Downes alright for this level. Aribo MAY be hanging around. Azaz I’m sure will be great. But still think we lack a strong DM. Wide, Fellows looks good and interested to see how Scienza gets on if we sign him. Robinson and Fraser good options. No real complaints here. Strikers, had hoped to see a bit more movement. I have no issue with Downs, he’s barely played and hoping he will get better with game time. Would have liked to have seen one of Archer or Armstrong go (probably the latter). Got too many options and none of them stand out, not going to keep them all happy.. We’ve done well to shift who we have, some for money I’d never expected to see.

Just the fans…

There’s the Taylor replacement sorted, not sure what everyone was worried about.
-
Hmm, that’s a very non committal tweet - “considering” I’m going bold and calling bullshit. Probably posturing when they were trying to sign Kone.
-
Pretty sure they’re recalling him because they need him. Jackson is being sold to Bayern and Delap just got a hamstring injury.
-
Well… that’s unexpected.
