  1. I failt to see why some Pompey fans think they've had a hard time of late. By cheating they have won the cup once and been beaten cup finalists. They've been relagated to the second tier, which when viewed in the context of the last 40 odd years, is their natural station. scumbags.
  2. who's PUPtoast? one of us surely
  3. lol @ TCWTB great stuff
  4. Exactly, this has been argued before and has failed. Surely they need to link to the old money/new money angle?!
  5. Agreed, so too the messages of support from some 'saints'.
  6. Sorry to bump this but HMRC seem to be pretty solid in their view that Pompey were fiddling the system - will/can they prosecute regardless of the CVA appeal?
  7. so what you're saying is: CHEATS!
  8. So HMRC are arguing that Pompey have been guilty of tax evasion - will/can they pursue criminal charges regardless of the outcome of this hearing?
  9. I didn't get through posting as "iloveHMRC"......
  10. Anyone else got a bad feeling that HMRC are going to blow this one?
  11. Not sure, things will be clearer in the next 48 hours.......
  12. Tax evasion Avoidance is the legal method of minimising your tax payable, evasion is illegal
  13. Surely thery're going to link it to the "new money"/"old money" issue?
  14. Best fans in the world....
  15. While Huntley doesn't "deserve" human rights you can't have a situation where vigilanti justice inside prisons is tacitly encouraged by prison authorities. The state chooses the method by which criminals are punished and that doesn't include physical violence. It follows that the state should therefore prevent other criminals from dealing out violence to those they think deserve it.
  16. Definitely a coincidence, f'sure your honour
  17. Thanks for all of the advice. The club is an FA charter standard club so it is pretty well organised and I'll be able to do my FA level 1 and get some help from the more organised guys. The one thing going against it is that the under 8s last year (when they were under 7s) had a crap coach so nearly all of the players who started a year ago left to join other teams. I'm really looking forward to it but am a bit worried about getting the balance right between trying to get them to "play the right way" and being successful. My in-law (who's football opinions I rarely agree with) gave me the cliche advice of stick a big kid at the back who can welly it forward and a big kid up front who can shoot it hard but I don't want to play hoofball. I'd rather help them develop some skills than win through hoofball but at the same time I don't want them to get thrashed by teams that do adopt the hoofball style. Haven't told them that I'm a Saint yet lol
  18. ...looks like I will soon be running an under-8s team, just wondered if anyone else has done something similar and had any good advice, tips etc
  19. If you agree that the UK was the junior partner to the US in 1940 then it sounds like you need a history lesson as much as Dave.
  20. It would be hilarious if HMRC used their past failure to overturn the football creditors preferential status to show that Pompey's football creditors are in fact secured creditors and so them voting makes the CVA invalid.
  21. I'm no tax expert but just because you may have earned money/wages/profit abroad it doesn't follow that you aren't taxed in the UK on that income. If you are a UK tax payer you pay UK tax on all of your world-wide earnings, only if you have already been taxed abroad will you be able to claim some tax relief but that is an entirely different issue. Even if you argue that as a footballer playing in a league with an international brand that some of your earnings are earnt abroad (an argument that is unlikely to hold much water in this instance anyway) you would still have to pay UK tax on it.
  22. I think we now have the better side. I predict relegation for them and promotion for us this season.
