HAHA mcjwills, you fail. Not to mention the fact that whilst I'm a cyclist I also own a car so I've also paid my "road tax" just like car drivers.
-
Haven't seen it mentioned anywhere but the Guardian have decided to beef up their coverage of the football league and have started to produce some regular blogs about teams and issues outside of the Premiership, definitely worth a look: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/football-league-blog there is also one about the whole media ban saga: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/football-league-blog/2010/aug/09/leagueonefootball-southampton

There should be if the club benefitted from any evasion - IIRC wasn't one of the charges relating to a dodgy severance payment made to Eyal Berkovic that should have attracted top-whack income tax but didn't saving the club a couple of hundred K?
-
Pompey are still in administration and have yet to be taken over by Chanrai so the thread still has some mileage. (Adopting Keagan voice) I would love it, just love it if somehow Rob Lloyd managed to squeeze enough wedge to take over. According to AA he was mooting the idea of a flotation to raise cash. How hilarious would that be.

Are you always this hysterical or do you reserve it for things Saints related?
-
So by your logic how should those cyclist get to where they want to go? go by car? cos that would be more green.....
-
If I had a pound for every time his name was mentioned on a football club message board as a potential buyer of said football club I'd have enough money to buy a decent club let alone the cheat skates.
-
This is one of the worst thing you can do as a cyclist, it puts you in the gutter with the crap and litter and forces you to weave around parked cars and drains.
-
I commute by bike here in taxdodge city and have to say that the roads are pretty good, probably something to do with council subcontracting everything to Colas.
-
you're right, but on the other hand it should have ended a long time a go! As I said a few pages back, Pompey are an unflushable turd.
-
Serious question - even if Pompey don't stick to the terms of the CVA what are HMRC going to do about it? They've already fooked this appeal up, I don't hold out much hope of them holding Pompey to account if they carry on flicking Vs to the creditors.
-
It does make me question the point of following professional football when it is so morally bankrupt, from the naked greed of players (f'ing Bolotelli wants £185k a week!), schyster agents, clubs ripping off fans with high ticket prices and constantly changing kits (nearly every Prem team now changes their kit once a season, Spurs have got different sponsors for Euro matches and so now have 6 different new kits available), and clubs ripping off local businesses, charities and taxpayers.

say it aint' so!
-
Can I just add that my hatred for Pompey has just increased a notch. I can only hope that this isn't the end of the story don't forget that there is still pontential points deductions from the Storrie/Redknapp/Mandaric tax situation, the possibility of HMRC going after them specifically on image rights as a tax evasion case, and the possibility that they will not stick to the CVA. Regardless you have to say that HMRC blew a winning hand.
-
think the moral of the story is that if you have "football club" affixed to your company name you can get away with money laundering, illegal trading and tax evasion. Will be interesting to see what HMRC's next move will be, surely there is an angle to bring about tax evasion charges. Had a feeling that HMRC would lose once they started going on about principles and the football creditors ruling.
-
I predict they'll wriggle out of it, but mega lolz if they don't.

Southampton v Pompey - the memories
anothersaintinsouthsea replied to Thedelldays's topic in The Lounge
waving my "I love HMRC" placard at them in the Itchen corner was a laugh -
I think the evidence has been pretty one-sided in HMRC's favour but I'm still expecting Pompey to scrape through. If this had been any other type of business they'd have been dismembered months ago but somehow the unflushable turd that is Pompey will somehow float back up to the surface.
-
You lucky chap
-
Even if they're liquidated they won't be gone forever. A phoenix club would emerge that would get back in the football league in less than 10 years.
-
Tis is so dodgy it is untrue, if Pompey get away with this it fly in the face of all natural justice.
-
Is the fat lady warming up or am I getting ahead of myself?
-
How dare HMRC try to recover what is owed to them!

Yeh, I got one through posting as Southsea
