  1. Great addition to the squad all tho it raises a few questions if you ask me cause he isnt exactly a ACM or a DM. Interesting tho.
  2. Its not the clubs, its the local mayors, police and governments who are being ridiculous. Groningen plays against QPR as well and they wanted to cancel it because the police had 'information' that firms from both clubs wanted to start trouble. Its all nonsense really.
  3. There have been more bad transfers from the French league then good ones. French league really isnt great. Every league has their good (and even great players) but the overall level in France is pretty damn poor and its by far the weakest league of the 'big 5 leagues' in Europe. 30m is just stupid money for Boufal, good player but nowhere near worth 30m. You can literally buy, for example, Kostic and Ziyech with that amount of money and Boufal aint that much better then those guys.
  4. I have no clue who he is so im not excited or disappointed by this news, will see i guess. Most important is getting new players in anyway and at least there's a new manager now for that.
  5. Well yeah kinda I guess, De Graafschap is going to court the 5e of July so it's going to take a week or two, maybe longer, before that's all done. And apparently there's a lot of people that will be involved when Ziyech would make a transfer. I think I read somewhere that Twente only gets like 40% when they sell him. Complicated one really.
  6. Peñaranda is another example for me how ****ed up the whole Udinese - Granada - Watford construction is. Great talent tho, was one of the standouts last year at the Sudamericano U20.
  7. The French league is the land of hope is it seems after Kante and Payet. Sure there are good players in that league but it's getting a bit ridiculous cause the league ain't that good and is by far the weakest from the big leagues in Europe.
  8. Its the same everywhere, Koeman was asked constantly at Feyenoord when or where he was going and same for de Boer at Ajax but nobody got unsettled by that cause there really is no reason for it. If you get unsettled by questions, rumors and speculation (or what ever) tho you should get the **** out of football cause its not your world. Koeman was asked constantly last few months what he was going to do as well and nobody got unsettled by that so or do you really think they will be players with sleepless nights because the manager might leave next year? So ill ask again, what issues? There really are none. Its all nonsense really and the longer is takes before they announce the new manager the more i get the idea that the club overplayed their hand, otherwise all this makes zero sense.
  9. Well ill bite then, what issues? Everybody in here talks about issues that would come up but i dont see anyone mentioning a single issue. I see far less issues with that then having to replace your manager on short notice in this time of the year where your preparing the pre-season and talking with players while not having a manager yet. And whats with this committing stuff anyway? Why do you have to be committed long term to do your job? Or do you think a manager (or player) is going to half ass the last year of his contract cause he's going to leave anyway? Nobody with ambition is going to do that.
  10. **** aint over yet for them. De Graafschap just announced they are taking the Dutch FA to court over this. Going to be interesting since Twente lost their case in court but then a commission overruled/ignored it. This is such a big mess.
  11. If you can a player like Sneijder for £5M then you should always do that. Worst case scenario he becomes a rotation player but the amount of experience a guy like him brings to a team is worth the money alone. Not to mention, he's still a damn good player.
  12. Ah got it, read the won't part wrong.
  13. Because? Media has reported for over 2 weeks now that Valencia will sign Kostic for around €12/15m and a €1.5m annual wage. Thats not that much.
  14. 2 maybe 3 years if you ask me, contracts dont say anything and i dont really care in the first place. Plenty of good players out there, you just cant sell half your team over one summer. And really the more interest there is for the players from bigger clubs the better cause thats means you have good players. So ill worry when no one wants to buy our players anymore otherwise i dont really care how long players stay, well as long as the club doesnt sell more then 2 key players every summer.
  15. Firstly how do you know? Cause its not a secret that Southampton tried to buy van Dijk in a package deal with Forster but Celtic didnt want to sell Van Dijk after 1 season and then they went for Toby. And i've said this before on here but Koeman has known van Dijk for years and way before he got any radars from clubs cause his father was the headscout at Groningen for young players in Holland and basically brought Virgil to Groningen from Willem 2. Im sure Virgil was on some kind of list already but Koeman has liked him (and Tadic for example) the moment they destroyed his Feyenoord (with Vlaar, Clasie, Indi, De Vrij) with 6-0 and has known everything about Virgil and Tadic because of his father. Virgil would have been playing at Southampton no matter who head of recruitment was, i can guarantee you that.
  16. Im not sure what to make of all this, i just hope there's not much truth to all this cause this doesnt look good.
  17. Hope we can get Kostic. Apparently he has a release clause of €15m, would be a great deal.
  18. Thats what a lot of clubs thought with Van Nistelrooy as well and United thought 'well maybe....' and we know how that worked out. If he would pass his medical just like any other player i would take Strootman in a heartbeat, in shape he's one of the best out there on his position. Not that it matters cause Strootman aint leaving Roma for Southampton.
  19. I didnt expect Koeman the jump ship when i first heard about it but if a 150m transfer kitty is true and the rumors about his wage are true then he's probably a idiot if he doesnt jump on that. 150m transfer kitty.. thats insane.
  20. Good luck to Lukaku at a big team with his first touch. He's never going to make it in the top., he has the strength and pace but otherwise he lacks everything.
  21. Or wait a week or two and pick him up as a free agent cause Twente is already looking into the possibility of filing for bankruptcy.
  22. At the moment it probably is, tomorrow the court will give their decision in the case Twente has going against the Dutch FA. Interesting day tomorrow for Twente and Dutch football.
  23. Well i wasnt surprised about that really. Everyone was playing bad and there was a terrible vibe in Holland when it came to the national team. Even the managers where speaking out in public how 'we are not good enough to play with 2 CB's'. So yeah thats a real boost in confidence when your playing your first matches in a team that struggles and with players you hardly know. Last 2 matches he was superb tho but if you ask me that also has to do with Van Aanholt next to him instead of Willems, who does what ever he wants and leaves massive gaps at back because he plays more like a left-winger then a left-back.
  24. Doesnt every manager want some kind of reassurances tho? And seems logical to me. What happens if the board sells half the team and you dont get any replacements? Big chance you will drop far down on the table and suddenly nobody gives a **** about you anymore and the fans rather see you go because you lose game after game and the manager is always the first to go. There isnt a manager with ambition thats going to jump into Southampton right now without getting some kind of reassurances.
  25. Most impressive thing about winning those titles is that he did it with pretty much only youth players from the academy. Every year Ajax sold their best players (Blind, Eriksen, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, vd Wiel etc) and all they did was buying other young talents. Its the reason why PSV now won the title twice in a row if you ask me, they did spent some cash on older and more experienced players. Ajax just dumped pretty much all the money on their bank account and still they either won the title or were close to winning it. Plus maybe de Boer can bring Tete along with him, that kid is going to be one hell of a player in a few years. Most talented right-back i've seen in a long while in Holland. Bazoer would be nice as well but he's probably a mission impossible.
