The Future

If we are bought, and the club survives, what do you think about what the future holds for Saints?

Personally, I think it depends on a few things such as how many minus points we start on, how much money is invested and what changes are made to the staff.

IMHO, if we start on -10 in L1, and a reasonable amount of money is put into the squad, I feel we will be looking at around 6-8 years to get to the stage of having a club capable of promotion to the premier league. This is not meant in a negative way, but is, I feel, a realistic view.

It could take us 3 seasons to get out of L1, then a lot of investment is needed to build a team good enough for top 6 in the championship. We all know how tough that div is, and there are plenty of teams trying to do the same thing.

Obviously, it all depends on investment, and what players we are able to attract to the club. Maybe we'll get out of L1 in 2 seasons, create some excitement and get the right players in, but even then, the championship is tough. We could be there for a while.

For me, after all of this stuff that's been happening, not only will I just be happy to have a club to support, I'll be glad to support them no matter what div they're in. We had no divine right to be in the prem, and we have no divine right to be in the championship. It took a lot of us too long to realise and accept that.

It turns out we have no divine right to be in the league, but if we continue to be, then let's savour every moment of it!

Come on you Saints!

i think we need to be positive. With the likes of Our Kel, John, Rasiak, Perry, Murty and then some of the youngsters such as Gillett and James (who improved immeasurably last term), we have a team that can certainly challenge this season. -10 or not, we should be aiming for the play-offs. I dont know much about L1 football, but i don't need to to know that the quality amongst that little lot means we should be up there. However, if Wotte is given the opportunity to lead the team, we run the risk of wasting half a season, when we need to be hitting the ground running. I think the new owner should be now making a real statement of intent to give us the best possible chance of promotion at the first attempt.

So, as much as I respect Wotte for his attitude the last few months, i think he represents too much of a risk at this stage. I would like to see him step back down to the Academy and someone like Tisdale appointed as manager.

i'm not thinking promotion is easy, but I believe we can get back up through the play-offs largely with our current squad. if we do then get straight back up we will then need to do the re-building exercise at that point.
