saintrich Posted 21 July, 2009 Share Posted 21 July, 2009 Fail to see how this doesn't make the top 6 "Take Argentina's 26-pass goal against Serbia & Montenegro at the last World Cup. It was a supreme effort, involving six very decent touches at the end, but Serbia were an apathetic shower and the first 20 passes, under no pressure at all, were little more than an exercise in culturally legitimated indulgence. The number of passes before a goal is about as relevant as the number of notches on a bedpost. It's quality rather than quantity that counts. If you get both, so much the better." Crouch Ender Posted 21 July, 2009 Share Posted 21 July, 2009 Fail to see how this doesn't make the top 6 The columnist explains why he didn't choose that in his bit about the Saints goal.
saint lard Posted 21 July, 2009 Share Posted 21 July, 2009 Fail to see how this doesn't make the top 6 As it states in the Guardian piece Serbia and Montenegro were truly awful, not putting pressure on the ball or the player,so Argentina virtually went through them like a knife through butter. Whereas, again stated by the Guardian,Channons goal was from beginning to end, pressurised by the opposition. Liverpool were no mugs, wheresas Serbia and Montenegro were a piis poor side. All imo, luckily the guardian agree;)
mightysaints Posted 21 July, 2009 Share Posted 21 July, 2009 Its was in the top 10 that season for the ITV games, typically not not being bias Ian St John voted it second that year, guess what he voted a Liverpool goal 1st
