Um Bongo Posted 25 July, 2009 Share Posted 25 July, 2009 Think he'll do a job for us this year in L1. Didn't look too out of place considering he didn't play at all last season. However, was lucky not to have been sent off for quite possibily the most blatent elbow ever today!
Saint_Mabes Posted 25 July, 2009 Share Posted 25 July, 2009 Must have missed that one! I've always rated him and think he will be very important at CB this season...Lancashire and Perry anyone? Not for me thanks! (although I actually quite rate Perry).

Plumstead_Saint Posted 25 July, 2009 Share Posted 25 July, 2009 The back 4 all looked solid today. So long as Thomas doesn't get injured again we will be alright in league one IMO.
Dannyboy_Saint Posted 25 July, 2009 Share Posted 25 July, 2009 Still need an extra CB in my opinion as if either of Perry or Thomas get injured (which is more likely now they are getting on a bit) we have very few replacements.
SFC Forever Posted 25 July, 2009 Share Posted 25 July, 2009 Missed todays game but quite liked what I saw again Hearts. Murty seems to need nothing more than a few games allied to a loss of some weight to be a very useful addition.
RonManager Posted 25 July, 2009 Share Posted 25 July, 2009 He ****ed up a header when we were attacking just outside of their box and then raced all the way back trying to get a tackle in, then fell over outside our box with cramp! Played well though. Boy needs a salt-lick!

Pat from Poole Posted 25 July, 2009 Share Posted 25 July, 2009 Think he'll do a job for us this year in L1. Didn't look too out of place considering he didn't play at all last season. However, was lucky not to have been sent off for quite possibily the most blatent elbow ever today! He is a bit of a lunatic. Remember when he got sent off against us when he played for Burnley and assaulted Viafara?
AlfredKo Posted 25 July, 2009 Share Posted 25 July, 2009 The new Darren Powell has turned up already even during the pre-season.
Northant Saint Posted 25 July, 2009 Share Posted 25 July, 2009 I think comparing him to Darren Powell is a tad harsh.

Agree with this.Thomas is too injury prone, and allied with the occasional suspension after seeing red mist can not be relied upon for the full season.Perry at his age is also a good squad member but should not be considered first choice for 46 games. SW11_Saint Posted 26 July, 2009 Share Posted 26 July, 2009 Looked okay. A couple of lazy passes gave possession away, but other than that did what a traditional "stopper" is supposed to do. Not sure what his injury was, but hopefully not too bad - the key obviously is keeping him fit. Does look huge though, seemed to be about a foot taller than those around him (although they included Perry and Murty, so no surprise!). How ironic (for him) that he leaves Burnley for a bigger club/greater success, and they end up in the Prem League... still, think he could do a "Daren Moore" type job for us and will do well in this league. NickG Posted 26 July, 2009 Share Posted 26 July, 2009 he was really bossing likes lallana around, getting them into position to mark for throw in etc. Looked to be confident and strong character on pitch
Bailey Posted 26 July, 2009 Share Posted 26 July, 2009 Thomas should be good for us in League One, and to be fair, he owes us a decent season. After missing the whole of the last campaign through injury, whilst getting a big wage each week despite all our financial troubles, he really needs to pull his finger out and work hard for the team this term. Having said that, I think he'll do a good job for us over the coming season, but I still think we could do with another defender. Thomas, Perry and Lancashire isn't strong enough in depth or quality IMO.
