hypochondriac Posted 22 August, 2009 Share Posted 22 August, 2009 Just watched him on there. Whilst it was very good to see him back, he had a few things to say which I thought were interesting. He said he didn't leave Celtic to have a break and that he didn't wake up in the morning and feel like he HAD to coach. He made it sound like he wanted to do something related to football but not necessarily management. He said he wanted a new challenge and if someone came up with something new and exciting then he would look into it. Chance of something happening with saints then? hypochondriac Posted 22 August, 2009 Author Share Posted 22 August, 2009 Head of youth? Something like that with Strachan making it clear he doesn't want the top job would be kewl.
ART Posted 22 August, 2009 Share Posted 22 August, 2009 Did he mention that he and his missus were over in Ireland this week looking at property? The new and challenging post had to be Director of the Academy if it's Saints related. He's said for years he'd like to be involved with youngsters, kids at the roots of football after he stopped managing.

lordswoodsaints Posted 22 August, 2009 Share Posted 22 August, 2009 I knew it wouldn't take long. Clueless. How is it clueless? Just because I would prefer strachan over pardew....no contest really. Are you saying that if it was a straight contest between the 2 then you would pick pardew? That's fine by the way as it is your choice, but I would choose strachan as that is my preference. For the record I am as much behind pardew as the next man but IMO he will not last his contract. Just like every other manager,I will criticize them if I don't think they are doing a good enough job but I will also praise them if I think they are doing ok......it's called freedom of speech and opinion. I'm not saying that at all, i just think it's a little misguided to be talking about other managers just 4 games into his regime. He's got alot of work to do and i don't envy him one bit. This is probably one of the hardest managerial jobs at the moment...trying to balance the expectation of the city/fans with the realism of the situation. His interviews have been spot on, everything he's said has been spot on. His signings have been spot on - they've mirrored exactly what we say we've lacked and what he's admitted we've lacked. He's come out today and is saying we don't get wide enough...which is spot on. I cannot remember the last manager we had who was so open and honest about the setup and actually willing to make the changes.
