Legod Third Coming Posted 28 September, 2009 Share Posted 28 September, 2009 Three weeks ago we couldn't bat away a fly and all our bowling was buffet. Now look. And as far as I know, no managerial changes, just a bit of tinkering with the middle order. And I bet a bloody good team talk. So come on Pards, here's the example. Let's get cracking. Starting tomorrow. Saints to win by three!!
Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 28 September, 2009 Share Posted 28 September, 2009 They'll look a bit stupid decked out in whites and pads. Rovers'll run rings round them.

Who are we talking about, anyway? Hampshire, England? I don't follow cricket.
Saint Bones Posted 29 September, 2009 Share Posted 29 September, 2009 Surely it's the lack of the quality opposition Bias ? Me ? Never... Ok guys - let fly with the Ashes jibes
farawaysaint Posted 29 September, 2009 Share Posted 29 September, 2009 Yes ok, don't celebrate too much South Africa were awful and we always are in tournaments. Sri-Lanka on the other hand was a great game.

hutch Posted 29 September, 2009 Share Posted 29 September, 2009 South Africa were awful Indeed they were. Only scored 301. The difference was the Irish wicket keeper we had in the side (sorry, can't remember his name). It goes to show that one man on his day can make a difference. I wish one of ours had the confidence to do it. Several of them have the ability.

Big Bad Bob Posted 29 September, 2009 Share Posted 29 September, 2009 Er... we're 27-4 against the mighty New Zealand. You must be following a different game to me.... Anyway it has nothing to do with team management and geeing the players up. After the Ashes Australia had everything to prove, if the first game had gone slightly differently and Bopara had upped his run rate slightly it might have all turned out differently. As it was Australia won (by 6 runs?) which gave them even more to go for in the next couple of games. England were basically 'demotivated' after the Ashes and would rather have rested than play the 7 games (this is what the TV commentators have said so don't shoot me please). Againt SA a couple of our batsmen clicked and got big runs, the bowlers were woeful. Against SL out bowlers clicked and got their danger men out early doors, our batsmen were average at best! Kadeem Hardison Posted 29 September, 2009 Share Posted 29 September, 2009 "Bloody good team talk", my ar5e. Strauss seemed as bemused as the rest of us as to where that performance came from.
70's Mike Posted 29 September, 2009 Share Posted 29 September, 2009 this time last year, if they had been cheap enough, we would have signed Collingwood and Anderson to play in midfield as they had international experience
