SKATE_HATE Posted 21 October, 2009 Share Posted 21 October, 2009 Got one on Saturday just wondering if they're any good?
Gordon Mockles Posted 21 October, 2009 Share Posted 21 October, 2009 I've been a fair fews times but now they've gone downhill a bit from what I hear so I realise why so many are vacant. They used to be good until they stopped doing shots (80 in a match was excessive, to be fair) and heard they've now stopped doing shorts. Pretty sh*t when one of the main benefits was free drinks. Not everyone wants wine, cider or draught beer. You expect a bit more when you're forking out quite a price for an exec. box. I think it was better value in the Premiership! iansums Posted 21 October, 2009 Share Posted 21 October, 2009 Was in one a couple of years ago for the Barnsley game, lost 3-2. I was quite impressed, the only thing lacking was the atmosphere you get in the suites as everyone is in one big room. You are made to feel like royalty, personal waitress service, plenty of food and drink. Interesting that alcoholic drinks have to be locked away whilst the game is on. TV in the room to catch up with other scores although our TV was faulty. Great view of the pitch. Enjoy!!

iansums Posted 21 October, 2009 Share Posted 21 October, 2009 If I remember correctly in at 12-12.30, out at 6pm, GM should have a better idea. Unfortunately it's not quite as good as the Chelsea box as seen on Masterchef last night, although that did cost £1M per year (allegedly!). Gordon Mockles Posted 21 October, 2009 Share Posted 21 October, 2009 Yeah, not been this season but it was around 12ish, then an hour after the game - around 6. Weird how quickly you pile into your drinks, half p*ssed, then look out around the stadium and everyone's gone in such a short space of time. Mind you, after a few drinks, much slips you by! SKATE_HATE Posted 21 October, 2009 Author Share Posted 21 October, 2009 (edited) I thought it was 12 till 7 but just picked the tickets up and the letter with them says 1 till 6. Bit ****ed off as that's 2 hours less free booze! Edited 21 October, 2009 by SKATE_HATE
iansums Posted 21 October, 2009 Share Posted 21 October, 2009 I've been to the Mike Channon suite a number of times but the format there has changed. Have been invited by a client to the Norwich game next month in the MLT suite, looking forward to that, anyone been?
nathan Posted 21 October, 2009 Share Posted 21 October, 2009 I've been to the Southampton one once and they are pretty good, although it seems that is only at St Mary's where the drinks locked away during game applies. At Man U, Leicester, and Southend we were allowed to carry on drinking all the way thru. I don't think it is value for money at present as like another poster said, it's only beer and wine that is free. When we went we were drinking everything going. Weston Saint Posted 21 October, 2009 Share Posted 21 October, 2009 I was invited into one the season before last. Very pleasant with a nice meal before the game accompanied by decent enough wine. All drinks are locked away 15 minutes before the start of the game to comply with ground reglations but a chance of a drink at half time and again after the final whistle. Tea and sandwiches at full time as well. Comfortable surroundings and good company. Cannot see the need of drinking to excess at these functions. If you are an invited guest why get bladdered. I like a drink as much as the next man but it is about the overall experience not getting as much down your neck as possible. Game was ok as well as we beat Hull 5-

Saint Fan CaM Posted 21 October, 2009 Share Posted 21 October, 2009 Have been in an exec box on a number of occasions with a client, but not this season so far although I will be in one this week. Great company, good service, plenty to eat and drink, seats are more comfy as they're padded. View is good, but my ST seat is better! Get a free programme - woohoo! Only downside IMO is the atmosphere is not quite the same as being amongst the regular crowd - i.e. somewhat more restrained shall we say.

Saint Jude Posted 21 October, 2009 Share Posted 21 October, 2009 I've been a few times and also to boxes in other stadiums...it's pretty good if someone is paying for you (i.e. a company) but if I was paying myself, there's no way I'd do it. All services aimed at business events are priced accordingly and are not directly comparable with the stuff the rest of us pay for...i.e. is business class flying really worth 10 times economy?...it's funny when I'm booking a flight at work...I think it is....when I'm going on holiday with my wife, I think it's a ridiculous rip off... Exec boxes are the same...they're not worth the money...they're just priced to ensure that those attending feel that they are exclusive enough to cough up the cash.... I'd get my normal seat...have a few beers in the pub...and keep the other 90% of the money...

StuRomseySaint Posted 21 October, 2009 Share Posted 21 October, 2009 In about 12:30 and out at 6pm Depends on what your hosts have paid for as to what you get. Might just be buffet picked food or hot food, which is something like lasagne, meat or something else with potato and veg... not the best, not the worst. The beer is free flowing apart from during the game... ask the waiter for a 'frothy coffee' to take into the stand, and you might get a nice surprise ( of the beer variety, not him spunking in it, you perv ) All in all a decent day out, especially if it is a freebie. Pain in the arse if you are a smoker though as youll have to walk half way round the stadium across to the Megastore to have a smoke!
Redondo Saint Posted 22 October, 2009 Share Posted 22 October, 2009 I've been to the Mike Channon suite a number of times but the format there has changed. Have been invited by a client to the Norwich game next month in the MLT suite, looking forward to that, anyone been? Yes. I was over recently and went to the the Gillingham game. I thought it was good value but don't expect a feast of culinary expertise! We were served pizza and roast pork roles! Hardly any atmosphere but I understand this was due to the fact the opposition was Gillingham. Some of the players are interviewed prior to the game and the man of the match afterwards. Should be better for Norwich and I would make the most of it. If you consider you get something to eat and a great seat for another 25 quid more than a regular ticket, it's worth it for a change. I will go again.
