Papa Waigo and the offside trap

As much as I love Papa Waigo he needs to sort out his reading of the opponent's backline.

He's quick, got a good touch and can finish but is often undone by his inability to stay onside.

I found out today he has been offside 25 times this season in just 610 minutes of football - three times as much as some strikers.

If you compare him to Jermaine Beckford, who in my opinion has a similar skill set, it is quite striking (excuse the pun). Beckford has been caught offside, on average, once every 70 minutes but Waigo has been caught every 24 minutes.

I hope Pardew can sort the problem out because from what I've seen at Saints and during his time in Italy I think we could have a very good prospect.

Beckford likes to come deeper and pick the ball up whereas Papa is always looking for a well-timed through ball, like the one he got on Tuesday night.

Quite agree that the linos have not been sharp enouogh to keep up with him in this division.

Seen Papa's finish vs Norwich on the tele a few times now and it gets better and better every time. Shows great pace, strength and awesome composure.

Very good player IMO.

Has anyone else noticed how many 50/50 balls fall in Papa's favour? He looks so lucky each time he tackles or goes to intercept - but it's not luck at all, more his quick feet.

On the youtube equaliser video knocking about you can see that it is all down to papas positioning and reading of the game. If you dont take your eye off papa right up until the goal you can see that he had it all planned all along and gets into space really well.. ledge.
