with news that Preston have sacked Alan Irvine.

Its unlikely that PNE would be silly enough to do that without having a replacement lined up.

As we know, new managers don't always share the same opinions about players as their predecessors did.

Whoever the new guy is....I wonder what he'll do about the Trotman loan, as he'll surely want funds for new player buys. ??

...thats always assuming that AP wants to keep him....would you ?

Blimey, I didn't see that coming.

Trots when asked directly in the Mike Channon suite after the game, wouldn't answer whether he would be staying on and his body language looked like he was going back to PNE but this may change things.

Judging from yesterdays performance we dont want him anyway.

I don't think he's the finished article by any stretch of the imagination but I think he will turn into a top CB in time and will only get better playing with the likes of Perry and Jaidi. Can certainly see much more potential in him than Lancashire, that's for sure.

Think it is even more likely now that he will go back to Preston. Was probably almost certain anyway, but a new manager will want to see what he has got and is always likely to get loan players back.

Think we can probably get better anyway, whether it be a loan or a permanent signing. I expect AP has got something up his sleeve (other than his arm).

Our defensive frailties are pretty obvious. Murty is usually injured so that we have to play James or Thomas. Jaidi hasn't got a settled partner. Trotman looked like AP's preference and probably only a matter of haggling the price, but then something happened. We're leaking goals rather badly and we need to have a CB pairing week in and week out plus a proper RB.

I don't think either Trotters or any other young bloke with 'potential' is what we are looking for, but rather an experienced or very good one, even if it is going to cost a bit.

We can do without him, he needs to learn to read the game better and improve his decision making. If we are serious about play-offs we can't afford to be carrying someone like that who is going to make mistakes. Anyway, we've got two other decent CB's in Thomas and Perry .. ?

shame we can't combine Lancashire's composure on the ball with Trottmans power and ball winning ability.
