Just a thought as I understand he is a German gentleman who has emigrated to Switzerland.

Does this mean that GM will have to dislike him ? I mean an ex-pat is an ex-pat regardless of country of origin

if he has emigrated :smt090

What Markus Liebherr did by moving to Switzerland was very similar in many ways to what Michael Wilde did by moving to Jersey. I'm really quite surprised that the even-handed and fair-minded individual that GM is, hasn't commented on that. ;)

I don't mind a bit, while other clubs have relied on Third World sponsorship and Middle East and even Russian oil money ..(why does our petrol cost - so much ?.).and at least we have a European owner, and Germany isn't such a bad heritage really..after all OUR Royal family has its roots in Saxony and we've always had good relations with them ...except for the two wars, that is ..but all that aside... I welcome ML .. and his money. If he comes to SMS every game and wears red and white ..he's one of us !

Hmmm.

So Markus comes to UK for home games. Does that mean he spends more than 1/6th his time in the UK? I have no idea but if he does then I wonder if the UK HMRC tax rules would apply to him and he has to pay tax in the UK as well as Switzerland.

Wouldn't want us to be accused of harbouring a tax dodger
