sidthesquid Posted 13 July, 2010 Share Posted 13 July, 2010 I saw the headline on Newsnow & never read it. I imagined it had sneaked in by mistake and his dream move was to St Albans!!

CWD Posted 13 July, 2010 Share Posted 13 July, 2010 How come the OS is calling him Scott Shutton? Bit embarrassing for the lad, or is this another scheme to prevent other clubs becoming interested!?
Arizona Posted 13 July, 2010 Share Posted 13 July, 2010 Is he as good as Mystery Trialist, who scored in a pre-season friendly against Cheltenham before the playoff season.

Gordon Mockles Posted 13 July, 2010 Share Posted 13 July, 2010 Hope he's nothing like Peter Shilton. Least he's not in goal. What a t*t! Whilst we had Matt Le Tiss, arguably one of the best penalty takers to ever grace the game. Conversely, Shilton was possibly the worst penalty saving keeper (unlike Kelvin!) I have ever witnessed. Other than helping ruin out World Cup mixed in with a bit of handballing from Diego, I'd regularly watch Shilton get beaten by 10 year olds & regular members of the public in penalty competitions and the sad fact was, you could see Shilton was really trying. Has anyone ever seen him save a pen? He may have but I missed it. Anyway, dunno who this lad is but it gave me the chance to have a derogatory rant at Shilton! He served us well but I thought keepers were a lot cr*pper in those days for him to be revered as an England No.1....I preferred Chris Woods! ;o)

I prefered Ian Andrews, now he was a proper goal keeper.
daveygwyatt Posted 13 July, 2010 Share Posted 13 July, 2010 Shilton saved pen when we beat qpr 5-1 on opening day of season.. Can't remember what year.. But that's at least one!! So you clowns are clearly wrong there, also how many different England managers picked him? Or were they all wrong too!

So you clowns are clearly wrong there, also how many different England managers picked him? Or were they all wrong too! You lucky man! That's a site to behold. Did the taker stub his toe & punt it straight at him or was it a proper, adult, really powerful shot?! To be fair, in Shilton's day, decent English keepers weren't around in their droves or as talented as modern day footballers (Gordon Banks, different story. He was immense, especially considering the molten cannon balls they fired at him keepers in those days. You'd practically get concussion heading the ball) despite Peter being a good shot stopper. I didn't say Shilton had never saved a pen Davey, old chap. Hence the question! I merely inferred he was absolutely shocking at stopping penalties hence wondering if anyone had seen one. You have, fantastic. I've seen him many times, England & Saints, but couldn't recall any. I'd love to see footage of all the pens against him. Then you may well agree he was poo at saving penalties. However, I'll go back to the big top to make you happy!! Lol
