Dickson - why?

Not had the pleasure yet for one reason or another.....but it seems you think Mills is better - correct?

Not just me, but Pardew and Wilkins have both preferred him as an option coming off the bench so far this season.

I just don't understand the reasoning behind the signing when we already had the cover for LB/LM.

Brentford fans are saying the same, '' what a waste of talent''etc.

The general opinion is that he's one of, if not the best attacking full backs in this league. I am baffled as to why Mills is currently getting in the team before him.

Maybe so, but Mills should have been moved on.

I would like to see him play in order to form an opinion, but for the reasons you state I haven't been able to. Mills doesn't fill me with confidence though TBH because he has been largely ineffective when he has come on. If Adkins gets in it will be interesting to see if Mills starts getting the nod to start the game.....he seemed to like him on loan at Scunny.

We paid £125k for Dickson, didn't we?

Initially. It will add up over time

here's the run down:

£125,000 payable immediately;

£25,000 on completion of 10 first team competitive appearances

£25,000 on completion of 20 first team competitive appearances

£25,000 on completion of 30 first team competitive appearances

£25,000 on completion of 40 first team competitive appearances

In addition Southampton will pay a further £25,000 should they achieve promotion.

There is also a 20% sell on clause should Ryan Dickson be transferred on.

He's looked lost whenever i've seen him at left back, he's got nothing on Harding.

As a winger I'm not sure, he puts in a great ball but you can tell he's a full back rather than a winger, he is very one dimensional and doesn't really have a trick to beat the full back. He's like Lee Holmes with working knees and a bit of pace.

Would like to see him given a few more games at left wing, see if we can get the best out of him.

Spot on.

It's strange though as he went round what seemed our whole team to set up Brentfords equaliser vs us last season.

Harding was on his own on the left side yesterday. Puncheon kept moving inside, and at times Lambert was wide left. The team looked totally disjointed. I'd like to see Harding at left back with Dickson in front of him. Swindon had so much space down our left, and Harding had feck all help.

I like Dickson - think he has a good engine, a nice cross and is always looking for the ball, though he's been caught out a few times at LB. 4 players ike himacross the midfield of the park and we would be sorted.

That said, wonder if Adkins comes in, Mills will be the one of the players to propser. Was at loan to Scunny the season we were relegated from CCC and by all accounts did well. Was close to moving there until he had a good preseason under Pards but then faded...

I don't think anybody has got a plan at the moment, not with Dickson and not with anybody else either. Take Guly, for example. We have signed him on loan until January, so why not play him, and in the position he prefers? We must have bought him for a reason, and if we are to know whether we want to keep him or send him back we must let the bloke play, mustn't we?

Dickson looked alright LM when Lallana wasn't playing, but followed on with a poor first half against Bournemouth at LB. That appears to mean that he is not to be given a chance again. I would have thought with Lallana out again and Puncheon not producing that he ought to be back in from the start. What is going on is daft and has nothing to do with good management of either staff or football.
