Smirking_Saint Posted 16 September, 2010 Share Posted 16 September, 2010 (edited) We are not performing at the moment, the players are off colour and our season has not started in any way to an acceptable level. I have been thinking about it, i know people are blaming it on Pardew, this could and could not be the reason but also look at the big picture. Our chairman, the man with a passion, with the cash and who's 'dream' was sold to many of this players is no longer with us (RIP). This must have a massive and destabilizing affect on the club and everyone associated with it, no matter what the Liebherr family have said publically or privately. Imagine if you were one of the players, you don't know for sure whether the dream is still there, how much longer it will last etc etc. And that will have an effect if the shock doesn't. Pardew his sacking, for whatever reason you have heard, believe or is the truth. Whether it was completely out of the blue and was performance based or whether it was a serious incident. Both would have had a massive effect on the players, in situation A there would be a lot of players upset with his leaving and so underperforming. Situation B then there would be players upset with what happened, many feel disrespected, let down etc and will probably be pockets who were not directly effected and are upset with the leaving of Pardew....so underperforming and perhaps even have splits in the dressing room. The Waigo/Antonio factor We miss pace, we miss change, we miss the extra men. We all know this i won't bang on about in but we had long enough to sort it. Pre-Season Not enough big players had enough game time, not enough matches played. Not enough players brought it. Straight forward again really. Injuries/Suspensions Last and by no means least, injuries and suspensions. They have hardly been kind, i am pretty sure if Liverpool were without Gerrard, Kuyt/Ngog (2nd striker ? They haven't really got one but you get the idea) and Torres was playing injured they would struggle. We are missing so many of the players that got us goals last year. All this together is a pretty disasterous start, i really hope that we can get back into the swing of things quickly and get our heads in order to really begin our campaign. All i know is that Adkins has a lot of work to do, but i think he is the man to turn it around. Wildgoose Posted 16 September, 2010 Share Posted 16 September, 2010 Very fair and reasonable points I think.......I also agree with the OP in that I too think Nigel Adkins is the man to turn it around, eventually
There when Franny scored Posted 17 September, 2010 Share Posted 17 September, 2010 It is interesting to note that we have had the second most shots in league, just one behind top side Peterborough (http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/ClubShooting/0,,10794~201025,00.htm). As the saying goes "8 out of 10 people don't believe in statistics," however, it is vaguely suggestive of the fact that perhaps we haven't been getting what we deserve out of several games. I appreciate this is probably more applicable to the matches before Swindon (away) and MK Dons.

Good food for thought I would add another possble ingredient The "Troublemaker" The sort of person who is within the camp, sowing seeds of unrest at every turn, and slowly poisoning the water. The eternal "Office Stirrer" We have had that scenario before as I recall. Far fetched ??? Well, it worked the last time. derailed things completely
Block 5 Posted 17 September, 2010 Share Posted 17 September, 2010 Interestingly (or not) Alan Brazil mentioned yesterday that he had been speaking to Alan Pardew. He said that Pards is NOT a happy man.

up and away Posted 18 September, 2010 Share Posted 18 September, 2010 There has been something awry since pre-season. We should never have so many unfit and injured players. The way Lallana's injury was handled was just amateur, along with several other fitness aspects. The wait for better CCC type players has added to that cost, one we will only be able to settle once we do actually get in the loans. I would not argue that I expect we would be doing better if Pardew had stayed, but I would definitely argue that there was sufficient evidence to show we would be on for an automatic spot, not even sure about the play offs. docker-p Posted 18 September, 2010 Share Posted 18 September, 2010 Most of the injuries suffered have just been bad luck, some could possibly be put down to lack of fitness. But sacking a manager popular with the players after a 0-4 away win, after only 3 games of the season, isn't going to help.
