Gemmel Posted 21 December, 2010 Share Posted 21 December, 2010 Stolen from Knellster on the takeover thread, but thought it bring a smile to a few Saints faces that dont make it over to the lounge MANAGER Ian Baraclough is trying to fix up a behind closed doors friendly for his S****horpe United team to get them back into action. After two successive postponed league games, he wants to try to get them a proper run-out before the start of a hectic four-match Christmas and New Year programme. "I have made a few calls to try to do something in the early part of the week," he said. "We managed to train on a full-sized pitch at Doncaster last Wednesday and we used Southampton's training facilities when we got down to the south coast on Friday. http://www.thisiss****horpe.co.uk/s****horpeunitednews/Friendly-cards-Iron-fit/article-3021961-detail/article.html It's a nice thought that in a bid to regain South Coast supremity, we want any team playing the blue few, to have the best preparations possible and Staplewood is an open door.
Colinjb Posted 21 December, 2010 Share Posted 21 December, 2010 I suspect our Nige' had a bit to do with that too, but yes. It's good to see that despite all the media negativity surrounding Nicola that we are being a helpful member of the football community. Who are the Skate's next opponents!? Window Cleaner Posted 21 December, 2010 Share Posted 21 December, 2010 Puncheon hat-trick? Might want to prove a point as his loan period will soon be up.Depends whether he fancies coming back to Saints I guess.

Probably gave him a private tour of the facilities too, just to be friendly like ...
Turkish Posted 21 December, 2010 Share Posted 21 December, 2010 This is a mark of how far and quickly we are progressing when teams from the league above want to use our training facilities.

Hopkins Posted 21 December, 2010 Share Posted 21 December, 2010 Happens quite a lot to be fair. I know for a fact it happens at Pompeys horrendous training facilities too sometimes. I wouldn't get overly excited.

No you are wrong, they asked to use our training facilities because they are amazing, they could have used any but chose ours, we should be proud of this and proud of how our club is viewed nationally. To further this point the only teams that tend to use Wellington as a training ground are teams that are playing us, i.e. Huddersfield and Swindon did last season. Turkish Posted 21 December, 2010 Share Posted 21 December, 2010 Then we should be proud that one of our players is being linked with the prem too. we should, its actually 5, nearly half our team. There is the £2m rated Puncheon, Fonte and Lambert to Newcastle, Chamberlain to Arsenal and Lallana to a few teams. This is great news and shows we have a team of premier league players, they are just playing like a midtable league one side to fool team in the championship that we will be a soft touch when we win promotion. Forgot about Morgan "i'd be better at a higher level" Schniderlin. That is 6, over half of our first XI could and should be playing in the PL. Maybe the reason we are doing so badly is that the other 5 including Hammod really are that bad and bringing everyone else down to L1 level. Fergie Posted 21 December, 2010 Share Posted 21 December, 2010 Could have been a good time for Nigel to show NC a couple of player he could be interested in too...maybe a nice gesture but i think a secret scouting session too!! A team is never consistently better than it's weakest player, because better opposition will invariably find the fault line. I would say we lost against Brentford because of 2 individually poor actions, and I don't mean Kelvin. Same player was involved in both of them.
