hamster Posted 16 April, 2011 Share Posted 16 April, 2011 Surprised it's not been mentioned in my absence but with Rochdale losing today and my maths being correct I do believe that we are guaranteed a play off spot now at the very least. Surely this is cause to celebrate? Well done saints, pat on the back time.

pap Posted 16 April, 2011 Share Posted 16 April, 2011 No matter what happens in the remaining five games, we have a chance at promotion regardless. Sweet.

NickG Posted 16 April, 2011 Share Posted 16 April, 2011 worst case, we need 12 points from - Brighton (A), Hartlepool (h), Brentford (a) Plymouth (a) Wallsall (h) to guarantee auto or we have guaranteed shot at play off would have taken that a few months ago
Dalek2003 Posted 16 April, 2011 Share Posted 16 April, 2011 In that case we have achieved what i thought was possible under Adkins ie as a new manager at the club. Presumably Posh and Huddersfield are have also booked a place in the playoff if not auto. 2nd place will be a bonus if we get there.
VectisSaint Posted 16 April, 2011 Share Posted 16 April, 2011 Presumably Posh and Huddersfield are have also booked a place in the playoff if not auto. Huddersfield yes, Posh no, need 3 points to be mathematically assured, but 2 would do
hamster Posted 16 April, 2011 Author Share Posted 16 April, 2011 why the 'angry' smilie???? That wasn't me bogs. I can think of quite few sets of fans who'd be over the moon right now. We are such fickle ungrateful ****ers at times. Ffs we were in touching distance of this last year and the year before we could have breathed our last breath. Second Guinness cracked open already and I'm raising this one to my man Guly. It was just like watching Brazil.

We will never get through playoffs including Peterborough and Rochdale.
LGTL Posted 16 April, 2011 Share Posted 16 April, 2011 With a full week training and no match Lallana should be 100% fit according to Adkins, and Morgan will be back possibly for Hartlepool but more likely Brentford. Oxo and Barnard will be out for the rest of the season but we've known about the former for quite a while. The one good thing is that we do have options, Guly, Forte or Connolly could replace Barnard, likewise we have Guly, Forte, N'Guessen or even Richardson who can go down the right. Quite a few people moaned when we brought those two in but they could prove vital, espicially Forte who looked decent today.

Not sure 2nd place should be viewed as a bonus since were in the driving seat and auto promotion was the aim at the start of the season and also after adkins took over
ant Posted 17 April, 2011 Share Posted 17 April, 2011 Bearing in mind that we were just above the relegation zone at the point Adkins joined (unless my memory has completely failed me), I think we should absolutely be thanking our lucky stars that we're battling for what we are at this point. Second place would be bloody brilliant and quite possibly deserved, but only if we can deliver the necessary results in the final five games. I love how people talk in definitives on here - as if there's no chance we'll sneak up if we stuff up second place. Anything could happen in the next few games and probably will FFS! Let's just get behind the lads and see where it takes us.
Capel Saint Posted 17 April, 2011 Share Posted 17 April, 2011 Aye! At the moment it is in Saints hands and is an achievemnt in itself when weith three games in hande we had to get five points on Huddersfiled. We've done that and although we aren't playing the best footie at the moment, we are still getting points on the board. Yes we have injuries, but there is enough depth in the squad to cover those injuries. It is up to those individual players now to show their 'mettle' and get those three points each game until the end of the season. Also the fans have been great this season and need to stick vocally supporting the lads. COYR!
