Decent article btw. Might have been an idea to back up the stats of stripy winners with stats of percentage of clubs wearing stripes, but I can see why that would have been difficult to identify. Oh and "naïve".

Thanks, and thanks for the spelling update. That word beats me everytime....

Enjoyed the article very much.

I like spotting fellow Saints fans from afar, and its easier with a unique kit design. I think its good to stand-out with our own "uniform"Therefore I am not particularly attached to red-and-white stripes. There are half-a-dozen teams we can be mistaken for.

Aside from that, I find it quite exciting seeing what the club can come up with. I liked the sash shirt a lot. I would have welcomed, say, an inversion of it, the quarters, or the Rank Xerox kit.

How important is it ? Not very important, I suppose. Its all about asthetics.

I suppose there's some argument that a good design means more money for the club to spend, but considering our potential funding that seems a tad spurious, and the club is already doing quite the job of trying to squeeze every penny from other revenue streams (and getting false economies like the one caused by screwing up the ST ticket posting, or the bloke returning his ST due to the £1 car park fee).

I shall answer, as someone who perpetuated a 40-page thread on the home kit design.

"Not very".

You do know you posted 325 times on the speculation about new kit thread, don't you?

By far the most interesting aspect of the booming replica shirt phenomena is that the power of branding results in legions of fans being quite happy to abandon all common sense and pay £40 for a tee shirt that's worth £5.

And yes I do have one myself - although it does have 'Friends Provident' written on the front.
