buctootim Posted 13 December, 2011 Posted 13 December, 2011 Grenade and gun attack on shoppers in Liege, Belgium. Whilst I dont condone terrorism under any circumstances youn can at least understand political assassinations and attacks on military or government installaltions. Killing and injuring people waiting at a bus stop just drags your cause and organisation down into the depths. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-16161746
Lighthouse Posted 13 December, 2011 Posted 13 December, 2011 A bit early to draw conclusions, but that looks more like an Anders Breivik sytle 'nutter on a rampage' as opposed to organise terrorism. RIP and get well soon to all the innocent civilians involved though. It really is just horrific.
Dog Posted 13 December, 2011 Posted 13 December, 2011 Witnesses say a man in his 40s threw grenades at a bus stop in Place Saint Lambert, a busy square. At least one other man is thought to be involved. That's brilliant Lol

bridge too far Posted 13 December, 2011 Posted 13 December, 2011 BBC Liege correspondent saying only one man involved and police suggesting he might have been trying to help a friend escape from the courtroom. 64 injured.

Baj Posted 13 December, 2011 Posted 13 December, 2011 Bloodbath in Liege (Belgium) First reactions saying Pakistani's were involved. Quite a first reaction to be able to pin it down to a particular country, dont you think?
SuperMikey Posted 13 December, 2011 Posted 13 December, 2011 Gunman named as Nordine Amrani by police, he was known to them for firearms offences. The name suggests that he's of Algerian/North African descent, not Pakistani.

Wouldn't think there are many Pakistanis in Wallonie actually, plenty of people of Morrocan and Algerian descendance though.
Belgiansaint Posted 13 December, 2011 Posted 13 December, 2011 My mother was slightly injured in the attack (glass debris) while waiting for the bus after Xmas shopping and was treated on the spot for cuts. The killer acted on his own and absolutely nothing suggests the attack was politically motivated.

Just heard an 18month-old baby girl lost her fight for life over night. Awful..

I'm sure this sort of thing will take quite a while for her to fully come to terms with. It appears that Amrani had killed a woman and stashed her body in his shed before he went on his killing spree. I wonder if he simply felt that he had little to lose. Beyond comprehension.
Belgiansaint Posted 15 December, 2011 Posted 15 December, 2011 What worries her is that "I should have died instead of them kids". We're glad she's fine with a couple of stitches, mind you. Thanks for your support.
