Commercial ineptitude

Revenue isn't the only measure of being a "nobody" or not, Standard Chartered are a nobody company apart from to people who work in the financial sector, and apart from anything Spurs aren't sponsored by HP any more, which tells you all you need to know about how worthwhile shirt advertising actually is.

It's a strange animal that wants to sponsor a football team to appeal to people who don't watch football.

I guess some sponsorship works and some doesn't. I knew HP were there till last season. I am sure when we see Spuds plastered all over the place, their sponsor will stick in the mind. Whether or not it works for the company in terms of advertising is irrelevant to me - I am far more interested in what income the club can make (so we can be more competitive while sticking to FFP regulations).

Why do some people on this forum have a desire to constantly criticise the club? It's hard to believe this is a site for Saints fans at times.

So we should all just wear rose tinted glasses all the time and say everything is lovely jubbly and perfick.....it isn't there are many things that are wrong and thats what football forums are for surely?

Personally am ****ed off at the hike in my ST, ****ed of at them wanting a 17 year old to pay £530ish for a season ticket, ****ed off that when you write in you don't even get an acknoledgment of your email when saying something constructive.

****ed off that we have only signed 2 players and I am convinced we are in for a rough ride BUT I am bloody grateful this forum allows me my Victor Meldrew moments. Oh and ****ed off that I now have to pay £2.50 per ticket rather than transaction but thats ok it seems.

I agree we should be maximising revenue, but a quick look around shows how no-mark most non-top 6 Prem sponsors are.

I had also completely forgotten HP had sponsored Spurs that recently, which shows the flip side of selling shirt space to multiple companies or using different brands - I know their current ones are AIA, and they'd had Aurasma, Autonomy and various others in different cup competitions, but totally blanked on the "main" sponsor last season.

Have we surpassed Watford yet?

don't need to, we'll outgun them by tenfold, nay twentyfold in player sales. Why bust your ass getting publicity, selling shirts and other sundry crap when you can just sell the nucleus of your team and replace them with less expensive players. I mean that's not inept is it.

It was one of the reasons Cortese had to go and wasn't doing a good job apparently , so was hoping we would edge closer so I can start to plan some celebrations.

Though I am happy to see a local business using us for sponsorship...

It still does though surprise me that with the global audience of the premiership that we could not get

More.... Think veho did well at that price

I'm with you on most of that Ron but (and maybe this will rub salt in the wounds?) I bought 3 tickets for the Leverkusen game and was only charged a total of £2.50, not per ticket !

My two season tickets were £2.50 each. I know it's small beer but it's principles and having spent over £1400, I thought it petty. Much better to have built it into the ST price.

But as for ST prices going up......with the massive increase in TV revenue, one might have thought that not raising prices would have been a nice touch from the club. But UEFA's FFP rules can do nothing but add to the ever increasing prices, that is if the demands of the PL and the supporters are to be met. Let's say that the average price per seat over the league season is £500, and say that there are an average of 30,000 seats per season, then 4% increase equals £600k. Take inflation into account, and there is hardly, if any real term increase in revenue.

Really ? That seems really petty to me, individual match tickets you can understand but rooking those who are willing to spend 700£ of their hard earned in advance really seems to take the biscuit.

I'm getting a bit confused here. Can somebody help me out please. Are they inept because they are making too much money, or because they are not making enough?

I need to know, so I know when to shout boooooo.
