Batman Posted 23 November, 2014 Share Posted 23 November, 2014 Heard a thing on the radio this evening stating that quietly, UEFA are planning a possible life away from FIFA... Since August 1st this year, clubs (at least in UEFA) are NOT obliged to release players for FIFA competitions/games. Also, a new agreement is to be drawn up between all 54 UEFA nations to replace the current standing agreement and also, a draft plan of a competition is being drawn up that consists of 16 Groups of 4 national sides. That is for all 54 UEFA nations plus 10 invitational teams. This is to be ready in case UEFA pulls out of the 2022 FIFA world cup... interesting.....I thought

Batman Posted 23 November, 2014 Author Share Posted 23 November, 2014 Where did you hear that? it was a journo on 5live earlier. Saying he was shocked (and pretty happy) when he heard. He did some digging and it is true (apparently) he said, that sooner or later, clubs will be paying players so much money that they will block them from being released for certain international games. Would be great but seems unlikely to happen.

Saint_clark Posted 24 November, 2014 Share Posted 24 November, 2014 Would be great but seems unlikely to happen. I don't know. I've read a lot of quotes from various people involved with various FAs around Europe, it seems a lot of people are really p*ssed off.
