One Year On ...

On Wednesday 23rd January 2008 George Burley was released from his SFC contract and one day later was introduced to the media as the new Scotland team boss.

I for one was fed up with Burley's inept tactics, his team selection, his bizarre substitutions and his unwillingness to blame the players for not taking their chances ....... has anything changed in 12 months ? :(

Only the Gin sales in the local offy have dropped (allegedly)

Thing is, it was a good thing to get shot of Burley as he had lost the plot. NP seemed like just what we were missing. I genuinely think he would have had these players at at least mid table. We'll never know though, it's easy to be clever about what would've happened.

Maybe neither Burley nor Pearson would've fared any better than JP with the available resources.

........which is precisely why neither Burley or Pearson played so many of the lads in the first team at any one time............JP has had no choice.

He got Rupert Lowe and no transfer funds ...and the blame for bad results when in fact the lads he's using are doing their sometimes, limited best !

I think we where 13th, not 100% sure though.

13th it was. Should have got a decent manager straight away, we knew he was going for long enough. But we cacked up, let Laurie Mac meddle in it,throw in a bit of nepotism and we appointed the Dreadful Duo,which got us into the lower realms of the table as if by magic. Then we got pearson who took a bit of time to get anything organised so we finished 21st more by luck than judgement and we could so easily be lording it over League 1 instead of Leicester today. Except that all those big earning hangers on would have taken

a little cut in pay if it had meant not playing in the dreaded league 1,getting the shyte kicked out of them by apprentice blacksmiths and donkey farmers every week. We might have been just as well off actually.
