TijuanaTim Posted 26 January, 2009 Share Posted 26 January, 2009 You know, get behind the team, embrace a positive start, be proud and enjoy being Southampton is it that bad a thing to do? What is the worst case scenario - we encourage the team and they don't get a result...guess what, they ain't getting too many presently. I say give it a go motivate the team with great support, sing and chant encouragement for the players, enjoy being Southampton...we have 4 games in twelve days, worse comes to worse and we get nothing then those that want can go back to their 'I told you so' negativity, whinging etc Hey and if we do well we can focus on whining about the quality of our kit, how we ever let Kenwyne go without a sell-on, why we can't have Soul Cellar threads on whatever. 12 days...that is not too much to ask for everyone to 'unite'
rocknrollman no2 Posted 26 January, 2009 Share Posted 26 January, 2009 Thing is we have been doing just that all season and where has it got us? I think everyones just had enough.
Bailey Posted 26 January, 2009 Share Posted 26 January, 2009 Correction, everyone should UNITE during the match. What people do before and after is their perrogative. I have no problems with protests, chanting against Lowe or whatever, providing it takes place prior to and after the game. When the first ball is kicked, we need to be right behind the team, show them our full support and do our bit to help avoid the drop.

supaimpy_returns Posted 26 January, 2009 Share Posted 26 January, 2009 yes, must admit, only been to away from home this season, but intending on going on the march, but strangely feeling maybe actually go to the game as well! first time this season I've felt like going to SMS, knowing Lowe won't be there meaning no chance of spotting his smug face and hopefully the lads will play for Jan , afterall thers no real change, but strangely feeling glass half full rather that glass half empty, I've previously advocated a boycott , but wavering now anyone else feel this way? Probably won't be able to talk after Saturday , after the march and maybe the match and hopefully protest afterwards. I want to support the team , but don't want to support the current regime , catch 22 grrrrrrrrr

Arizona Posted 26 January, 2009 Share Posted 26 January, 2009 Man Utd, stadium sold out, terrible performance, hammered by reserve team in second gear. PNE, all of 200 fans traveled up, half probably left at half time, came from behind to win 3-2. Not saying we shouldn't support the team, however I don't buy into the argument that we are affecting the players by singing Swing Lowe or staging protests outside the stadium. All Lowe is saying with this "Saints Utd" stuff is, 'I have made yet another gross error of judgement and I think it is going to go tits up. Pleeeeeease leave me alone for a bit, your not being very nice and your not my friend!' Think about it. If Lowe really honnestly believed Wotte was the Man for the job, would we need statements asking us to unite?

The fans have supported the team through thick and thin this season and been more than patient. Just because they have a go during a match when we were losing to a team second from bottom doesnt mean they are not with the team. But then its easy to be in america and make these points when your'e not involved. Your'e calls into radio hants are completely out of touch and your'e not helping the situation at all. Respect your opinion Rog, you're are certainly entitled to it. Cannot remember ever saying that the fans haven't 'supported them through thick and thin' can you? Never said or suggested anything about 'fans having a go' either did I? Where is you got that from mate? It's not 'easy to be in America'...and lastly are you 'helping the situation'. I maybe, just maybe, more in touch than you perceive.

I very much enjoy your phone-in slot on the radio after the game. (Good to know that our FC is still home to many who now live overseas.) UP THE SAINTS.... (and Ben loves you too....!! (get a hair cut Ben!))

David Strover Posted 27 January, 2009 Share Posted 27 January, 2009 It's funny how pros say the crowd doesn't affect them during a game because they're professionals and just 'get on with the game' or simply 'block it out' yet now apparently a lot of the club's situation is down to the fans. The club's situation is down the the coach/manager/bloke in the dug out who decides the tactics and the starting eleven and the players. Who employs the coach/manager/bloke in the dug out and oversees it all making decisions as things go on? No of the above is the 'fans' they're just the poor sods who pay an absolute fortune to watch the abject displays and then get garbage uttered that some it is their fault. I feel sorry for Saints fans I really do. I am glad I live too far away and I am too skint to bother with the 'match day experience' part of supporting Southampton. obelisk Posted 27 January, 2009 Share Posted 27 January, 2009 I sense the hand of Lowe behind this "Southampton United" spin and, to be quite honest, that makes me rather more cynical. There is one person at SFC that has been the catalyst for the division that afflicts the supporters but he seems to be in hiding at the moment although his luvvies are doing their bit. I respect TT's views even if he makes my blood boil on so many Saturday tea times. I've no problem with getting behind the team during the game but that's been the way of things virtually all season. However, if this is an attempt to gloss over the mistakes of the divisive clowns in the boardroom then my reaction would be along the lines of "sod off". Jackie@home Posted 27 January, 2009 Share Posted 27 January, 2009 Every week we turn up and get behind the team. Then they let us down. One flaming win since April. Tim, you are just very lucky that you don't have to sit through it. It's only the die-hards left. My husband wouldn't go if he didn't do it for my sake, even lots of season tickets holders who have had tickets for at least 20 years can't suffer it any more. My husband says that at best, it's boring ( when we scrape a 0-0 draw). There is no more excitement. At it's worst, it's torture. There are so many people who will not renew again next season unless they see some serious changes. Lots of these supporters haven't got much interest in the politics, but they do want some excitement, some atmosphere, some HOPE. The vast majority go along looking to get behind the team, but then the same old crap keeps happening week after week.
