Colinjb Posted 30 January, 2009 Share Posted 30 January, 2009 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/swansea_city/7847562.stm 7 years ago they managed to get rid of a chairman who had taken them to the absolute depths, now they are fighting for a playoff position in the Championship. Protests similar to the one planned tomorrow served as the cataltyst to not only make fan's opinion clear, but to also rally the local community to do something about it! Change can happen if it is wanted badly enough. Don't give in people. (And please mods, alter the 'the' in the thread title, to 'To.')
Mr X Posted 30 January, 2009 Share Posted 30 January, 2009 Good Article, we really are due a change in fortune and It's time we got rid Of Lowe, Wilde and everyone involved in the raping of our club once and for all. The only way for change is if we are united in our aims. Sounds like they only had three months of a bad apple at the helm we've had over ten years! I urge people to join the march tommorow if you can, It may not bring change but surely its better than watching the train wreck and moaning about it but doing nothing. Colinjb Posted 30 January, 2009 Author Share Posted 30 January, 2009 Inspiration ? More like painful lesson on Saturday afternoon... For pities sake read the article. In the likely event that they do win I will still respect the achievements and strides they have made in a short time, if a community comes together and support their club and desire change, good things can happen. Swansea are living are proof of it, in a world of cynicism they are a breathe of fresh air.

bungle Posted 30 January, 2009 Share Posted 30 January, 2009 "Prized asset Stuart Roberts" may well have been sold to Wycombe, but he is now troubling the scorers at Carmarthen Town, via Aberystwyth and (I think) Forest Green Rovers.
bungle Posted 30 January, 2009 Share Posted 30 January, 2009 And Roberto Martinez was an untested manager who was promoted from within. So no doubt he'd have been hounded out of SMS.

It was simply a black joke in the context of a likely impending defeat for us at their hands. Edited 30 January, 2009 by alpine_saint
jawillwill Posted 30 January, 2009 Share Posted 30 January, 2009 I've been saying for a while that the likes of Swansea and Hull should be seen as an inspiration for clubs like Saints. We think we've had it bad in recent years, but they're probably experienced worse in their past. It'd be nice if we could learn from them and unite for the good of our club. I've watched Swansea a few times this season, including midweek at Preston and honestly don't think their quality would look out of place in the Premiership. We will be in for a tough time on Saturday, but if we play to our full potential we're still in with a shout. (For the record, I think Swansea will get promoted via the play-offs this season)
martel Posted 30 January, 2009 Share Posted 30 January, 2009 I have to say that in some ways they are of course, however, I do not know about the rest of you I am starting to think along the lines of their being no point in getting promoted to the premiership. I am getting so bored with that league now, and whilst I am happy for any fan of a club whose team get promoted; we all know that they will probably take the drop in one or two seasons anyway. Sky sport and the arrival of the premiership have really created a monster that at some point will collapse financially, it has too, especially in the current economic climate the globe is now in. Just look at the money being spent on players and their wages, it has gone well beyond a joke and is frankly killing the game we love. I would dearly love to set up a web site with the goal of removing the top six to eight clubs from the premiership, and starting a European league whilst removing the european championship at the same time. However, I do not have the time to do this having just started another company, but I strongly believe that something has to be done. Some of you will disagree with this of course, but think about it, if we got promoted our chances of staying up for more than two seasons are at best a dogs chance. You blind faith in whoever is in charge is admirable. Reminds me of WW1 tommys putting their faith in the top brass before July 1st 1916.
