I took it for granted that the survivors would be embraced into our society regardless of extremist views, criminal convictions and whether or not they had read a pamphlet gently pointing out that rape is bad.

That they've hands on experience of sea crossings, and their age, fast tracks them into our navy for a start. They can go out, flip over the boats all the pensioners have fallen off, and return them. Either for more pensioners, or as naval vessels to send to war against Argentina.

Much has been made of these men invading our town centres. Excellent. Because they are just the people to eliminate our feckless, balaclava wearing youth. Obviously, for cultural reasons, all immigrants can wear balaclavas. But are free to fight and expose intimidating thuggery blighting our nation. This experience also fast tracks them into the police; an organisation that also never bothered with pamphlet reading.

In just a couple of posts, we've eliminated poor pensioners; solved armed forces recruitment; increased our defence capability; given rape crisis centres plenty of work; removed urban crime and boosted our law enforcement. 🙂

I think there is a case for making them all helps build prisons, hose down the pavements, clear graffiti and plant flowerbeds and maintain them.

Hang on. Wasn't that exactly what Starmer and co said, when they got in? We had that financial black hole. Partly because of where we were, partly because the outgoing lot made some commitments, and partly because the incoming lot gave pay rises, and then pretended it was part of what was left to them.

It's one thing to see some surprises as an opposition party coming in. But as a handover in your own party?

Perhaps this is a reason for the divide between backbenchers and those with the most senior posts. PM and chancellor know things that the rest of the party have no idea about. Also that defence minister isn't in on it, hence Healey's 3% about turn.

I think a lot of the deputies were just the same as before. They must be spending a lot of time clearing the blame from their areas. I guess 14 years of Conservatives and Burnham's we've even wrong for 40 years is going to be doing some more lifting.

It’s essentially admitting poor fiscal management by your own party. Not really a surprise bearing in mind the significant increase in public spending that Starmer put in place. They can’t manage their spending because of their own economically illiterate backbenchers. Obvious to everyone in business but not the usual “centrist” crowd on here who clearly don’t know much at all

…and increased borrowing costs. Again they just throw insults because they can’t make a case for the left wing policies that haven’t resolved the budget issues, despite excessively high levels of taxation. Who would have thought that increased government spending and higher taxes wouldn’t work?! I tell you what let’s double down and do the same again
