Good.

Damn it. I was looking at getting a BYD. Need to hurry up then before it comes into effect.

Ha, yep, you'll need to be quick.

I would also worry about long term support for Chinese cars as well (maybe not BYD quite as much). Drive like crap as well, but that only matters if you're into cars.

Laffer curve in action. $160bn has left the UK (so far):

IMG_3915.thumb.jpeg.74bff821c3cbc976ed9f29546afce817.jpeg

Funny, I was told by the genius Labour voters that this wouldn’t happen. Good luck replacing their tax receipts. Just the start as well.

This on the same day that the USA has to pull its bombers out of our military bases because they fear we are incapable of defending them.

What a fucking joke of a country

Quick question, how many are from the UK, and how many have moved to countries where they pay any taxes? IE  Would they only stay if they paid next to no or no taxes. How do you compete with 0% tax? Also, how many actually paid tax here, or were they using the non-dom tax rules to avoid tax?

I actually know Troels by the way (and his son), and he moved due to family reasons - if you know the tragedy in their family you wouldn't be questioning anything about their motives to move.

We shouldn't be allowing the US to house their bombers here anyway.

The number of billionaire residents in the UK apparently halved in the last 6 years. And in 2025 alone, 16.500 millionaires left the UK as well.

This is the biggest wealth exodus a country has ever recorded. It’s 2 times bigger than China's.

Posted
Exact public figures for the total cumulative tax paid in the UK by steel billionaire Lakshmi Mittal and his family are not publicly available.
Key facts regarding his UK tax status and contributions include:
  • Non-Dom Status: For most of his nearly 30-year residency in London (starting in 1995), Lakshmi Mittal claimed non-domiciled (non-dom) status.
  • Remittance-Based Tax: Under the historical non-dom rules, he paid UK taxes on income and capital earned inside the UK, plus a fixed annual remittance charge (historically ranging from £30,000 to £60,000 depending on the length of residency). However, he was legally exempt from paying UK tax on his massive global income and overseas dividends—such as a reported £393.9 million dividend from ArcelorMittal in 2012.

So with this in mind, how much are we actually losing?

Because they don't want to pay tax. So if they don't want to pay tax, how do you stop them? And what's the point if we offer them 0% tax?

Just think how much they spend on Waitrose though?! This idiot probably thinks Labour were clawing 40% of their wealth. Getting excitable about something he knows fuck all about but someone wants him to get worked up about on his SM feed.

I bet he must be livid when he hears about outsourced jobs to India. Why can’t we pay someone £1 an hour and keep the jobs.

This isn’t a binary.

The point is that a sensible nation makes themselves attractive enough that the wealthy stay, and boost the economy. Study the Laffer curve and you’ll begin to understand this dynamic

As usual, another high IQ input from you.

If you had an IQ above 60, you’d realise that billions of pounds worth of job-creators fleeing, to be replaced by illegal migrants, won’t fund the NHS or your socialist paradise.

Who do you think will end up footing the bill?

How much tax are we losing per year from these individuals?

What would you propose to make them stay?

Most of their businesses aren't based in the UK though - so they're not creating anything here.

Exactly - too dim to understand global forces and economics. Thinks Rupert will turn it all round and go back to the 1950s land of milk and honey. Must be so depressing being so gloomy and devoid of joy.

I'm confused, he explicitly called out the loss of tax receipts on £160bn of wealth, but then can't tell us how much roughly that equates to.

I would propose we make the country attractive to live in, instead of punishing success.

No, my argument is they pay no or very little tax here, so the tax receipts that you were losing your mind on above is very low.

You are not a serious person.

Do you honestly believe that billionaires pay very little in taxes here?

Why the insult - I haven't insulted you?

In general, yes, out of that list above - that's why they're all moving to 0% tax countries.

The Mittels weren't paying any tax. The fact 70% on that list weren't from the UK, and with businesses abroad, means they were using non-dom status.

So, as I asked above:

“weren’t paying any tax”

So they didn’t own any property, buy any products, go to any restaurants, employ any staff then?

That's indirect tax, come on, keep up.

If that's what your argument is then that's very, very poor.

I will ask for the third time:

You know as well as I that it’s very difficult to predict an exact figure.

The average income tax paid is £120-150k per departing non-dom.

From that, economists predict at least £2bn, but then you can add in Stamp duty losses, CGT losses, VAT losses etc. etc.

Plus there is the very real implication that the UK is now seen as a punitive place to do business globally.

But they don't have businesses here, that was the point of the above list.

Income tax at £120k per non-dom. That is an average salary of about £300k per year. To have £1bn, they would have to work for 5500 years.

These billionaires are very hard workers.

Look, I think you realise as well as we do how poorly you've done over this last couple of pages. If you delete your above post then we can forget about this clusterfuck of a debate and I won't remind you of it again.

Although these individuals may be moving elsewhere and taking their personal wealth with them, does this actually mean they will no longet be investing or doing business in the UK ?

No, it doesn't, as wealth is very difficult to just "move". These aren't salaried individuals.

Quite. People are conflating the individuals and any trading entities. Entirely different things.

The issue is the example he gave had people who's businesses were overseas, so it could only be income that they were taxed on.

The wider point I was making is that the UK is increasingly seen as hostile to businesses and entrepreneurs.

If you don’t think these people leaving is a disaster for the country, then you’re not a serious person. Which you obviously aren’t.

You are clearly way out of your depth here.

If I were you I'd go away, do some actual research, and come back with a better formed argument so we can debate this properly.

You're embarrassing yourself.

LOL. Man who thinks billionaires “don’t pay any taxes” trying to pretend he has won a debate.

Not a serious person at all.
