I agree - the support today was really good. I think we needed jogging into voice a couple of times as I think we couldn't believe a 2nd good performance. When Cardiff looked like getting into the game and applying a lot of pressure, there was a concerted round of "red and white army" with clapping from most of the ground and I am positive that lifted the players as we then started to turn the tables again.

The potential is always there. The team just needed to give te fans something, anything to hang onto and support. People were bashing the negative atmosphere from the fans but there have been some truly horrendous performances this year. It was nice to want to cheer the team for once rather than feeling like you were obligated to.

Totally agree Hypo - a really good example of 12th man / team spirit going on. Even heard someone on radio talk about 'Fortress St. Mary's' - early days perhaps, but just maybe the corner has been turned at last and a bit of that lost spirit of Southampton is starting to return.

Hopefully the protests have purged some of that negative feeling and we can all get behind the big push to safety - then concentrate on the deeper issues

It was a great atmosphere, with everyone in the ground joining in with some of the chants today, it felt great. I think the fans were almost as important as the players in getting the result.

As has previously been said on this thread the players seemed to really respond at certain times and upped the perfomance and got back on top of Cardiff.

Well played the twelfth man.

must agree. The thing that got me was 'the buzz' around the stadium. There was a constant hum, a sound that we rarely hear at SMS.

It was like being back at the Dell. There was constant noise around SMS.

Pockets of Saints support, songs, chants coming from all around the stadium. Yes ALL sections of the stadium. The central Itchen were going for it too!!!

I have just read the Cardiff message board and the comments something like.... "A large away support was outsung by a buoyant home crowd". "Southampton really got behind their team"

It a really good feeling when you get that 'buzz' going around the stadium.

It's the one thing that Wotte has done wrong. Instead of blaming the fans for protests and negativity, he should have realised that if the team started to perform like they cared then they would get full backing.

Maybe he did realise this and was just trying to ease the pressure on the players.

They certainly seem to have new found confidence.

Hopefully this will quickly turn into a positive cycle of winning and increased support.

The atmosphere around the whole ground was pretty good today in fairness.

Might it have had something to do with Skacel getting the crowd going whenever possible? :p

At the Reading home game saw him gesture to the Itchen to rev up the volume, anybody who thinks he does not give a f@@k are wrong

At one point when we were under the cosh 2nd half, the northam got singing and I looked around and the whole stadium was joining in, excellent to see and sounded awsome. Just goes to show that if the players perform the support will always be there, as DM proved when he got subbed. A nice appreciation because he worked hard yesterday.

that last couple of games have been amazing. lets hope it continues. the atmosphere was great all around today. maybe better for rest of season? spoke to leon crouch after the game and he said that any major protests to be left until the last game of season as we have got the message across and rupert and wilde no whats going on, he said theres no chance of anything until the end of the season anyway and he is hopeful that there will be change. i hope so :)
