Saganowski

I don't see why people consistently praise and think he can do no wrong. He is far too inconsistent. When he is on song he is a valuable asset, however he disappears out of games and shows a distinct lack of effort far too often for my liking.

I hate to be defeatist, but I really can't see how we can stay up this season. All our strikers look incapable of scoring or showing any attacking nous, and our defense look incapable of keeping any clean sheets. I would be surprised if we get any more than 5 points for the rest of the season and we will ultimately finish 2nd bottom come the end of the season.

Yet another fresh start next season I suppose.....

To be fair, you could say that about pretty much all of our players. Surman and Lallana have promised much at times and then consistently failed to live up to the hype. Ryan Smith today is another case in point. How hard is to get to the byline and deliver a decent cross? Too hard for our players it seems.

I think he is the only player who can make anything. Even today when he held off the wolves defender it looked good. I don't think anyone else in our squad could have done it. He is head and shoulders above the rest of the squad. From a footballing point of view his touch and runs are very good. In a good team he will do very well.

I would totally agree about Lallana, as I have said before, I will lose no sleep when he leaves the club this summer. He is incapable of playing in any position apart from in the hole. That lack of adaptability and positional discipline will ultimately hold him back in his career.

I'm still keen for Ryan Smith to be given his chance on a consistent basis as I can see the potential for him to be an effective player when he has some confidence. It is very hard for a player to come into a squad in our position and shine, but he is arguably one of the few direct players we possess who when he receives the ball tries to beat his man.

a striker needs service, he got none..again. Get off his back

But he made no effort and showed no intelligence in his runs. There is more to a strikers role than just receiving good service. Why should he be immune to criticism?!

Completely agree, it's the type of player he is, like Lineker/van nistlerooy. (not saying as good)

But a goal poacher, with no service what can he do ???

Our Midfield couldn't open up a packet of crisps let alone CCC defences

we don't even have a midfield, what can saga do. give him the ball in the box and he'll score. if we dont get to the byline and get in good crosses he wont score.

the only time today that someone gave him the ball in a decent position he had several players surrounding him and still nearly scored with a good shot from a tight angle.

I totally agree that we have a poor, uncreative midfield, but I have seen a distinct drop in effort from Saga in the last few games, at a time when we need everyone working twice as hard.

I could be starting a similar thread about every single player in the squad, but I have done it for Saga because I know he is more capable of producing goals out of nothing then anyone else in the squad. We need SOMEBODY to score otherwise we haven't got a hope in hell and it frustrates me how Saga is immune from any slight criticism.

When he first came back from Aalborg, he was like a man possessed, and as a result was in the right places, putting defenders under pressure and scoring goals out of nothing (volley from outside the area, lob over keeper - forgotten the opposition). This is what I know he is capable of, which is why I have an issue with his effort in the past 3 or 4 games.

Saganowski puts in more effort than the Mule and all our other strikers put together. He is getting no sevice but is in poor form so is not able to create goals from nothing like he did against Preston. He should not be immune form criticism but is nowhere near as bad as some of the other players such as Wotton and Surman.

Well having watched it on the tv, we had no midfield and with Smith cutting in each time no wonder we had no width.

Wotton just hooves it everytime, how we miss Gillett.

BWP with Saga upfront, then play DMG behind them, put Surman to left back and Rudi on the left, Put Smith out on the right, then at least players would be where they feel natural.

Euell , well he shows spirit so I'd put him in midfield.

The side I watched today seemed to have no shape at all the only player in position was KD!!!!

What I'd give now for marian or a mickey evans upfront and a proper midfielder to boss the team still with the current crop we are unlikely to get any worthwhile fees for them so it'll be more rubbish in L1

Most important close season move will be a quality motivator with a decent coach alongside, at least then the team might play to a shape, good or bad.

Can't see me driving to St Marys tomorrow to buy a ticket for monday at this rate.

He's **** poor but yet he's the best we have. Him, McGoldrick and Euell must always play because they are our best chance of scoring goals, despite only ever McGoldrick looking like he has some sort of ability.

Its all well and good playing the experienced players like Saga, Euell, Skacel and Wotton but they are all toilet.

When he came back from Aalborg BK this player went on the record stating he wanted to prove his doubters wrong , he did that splendidly by hitting form and proving instrumental in the mini run of form SFC hit in the new year . Unfortunately (& all too predictably) it didn't last of course and he's now back in the same career long habit of being not quite good enough/often enough to do the business for most of the 11 different clubs he's played for before the age of 30 .

I don't accept the excuse that his proven inability to score regularly can be explained away simply by the inadequacy of the players around him , as an current European International I expect him to create and take chances at this level - is that asking too much ?

It seems to me that when he's gone Marek Saganowski will be remembered here as a hard working , occasionally effective , but ultimatly disappointing striker .

Good summary IMO.
