70's Mike Posted 11 April, 2009 Share Posted 11 April, 2009 Is it the biggest game ever or the biggest since the last biggest ever? IMO to not win will see us down by the following Saturday at 5pm. Who will be a hero? Who can handle the pressure? Does anyone really care at SMS or is it just us "mugs"
andysstuff Posted 11 April, 2009 Share Posted 11 April, 2009 IMO it's just another game we'll probably end up losing in a season of poor results. All the talk of 'must wins' '6 pointers', 'season defining' blah blah is just a throwback to what we were all saying before getting relegated from the Championship. Accept this season of over and we are down. Look forward to August when we can start rebuilding ourselves.
View From The Top Posted 11 April, 2009 Share Posted 11 April, 2009 I'm past carrying TBH. I'll be going but can't see me doing a 350 mile round journey for L1 football unless the season tickets are uber cheap. My son doesn't want to go at all as we "always lose". He's decided, at 6, that Arsenal are a better bet.
AlfredKo Posted 11 April, 2009 Share Posted 11 April, 2009 It will be one of the four biggest games this season. The players who had ability should wake up now and start aiming for 12 points out of 12. In my opinion our destiny will be high rely on the form of the attacking players. If they can find form and score early goals, we can build from there and the defence will play much better. Everyone can see the ability of Saganowski, Surman, Euell, Mcgoldrick, etc earlier this season. If they can find form, any of them can be hero and 4 wins are not out of our own hands. Amesbury Saint Posted 11 April, 2009 Share Posted 11 April, 2009 big game, looking forward to it. hope we get an early goal hope there is a big crowd.
Blanco Saint Posted 11 April, 2009 Share Posted 11 April, 2009 I feel we will bag all three points for a change. Ii always seems when we look totally out of it, we some how manage to offer a small thread of hope, albeit a very thin one. Well heres hoping any way. Spudders Posted 11 April, 2009 Share Posted 11 April, 2009 I will be there but can't really say I'm that bothered to be honest, I just want the season over so we can start afresh in league one.
rallyboy Posted 11 April, 2009 Share Posted 11 April, 2009 I have given up on this team ever repaying the loyalty of the fans, but we can still save the club, so let's pretend they aren't the worst team in history for ninety minutes. Come on you administrators, find us a nice owner so we can find some pride and points next season.

Jesus Reigned Posted 11 April, 2009 Share Posted 11 April, 2009 I always feel that the phrase "must win" is bandied around far too often, but it definitely applies to Monday's game. As Forest and Wolves have shown in the last few days, some teams have the ability to pull it out of the bag when they need to. We've shown on a number of occasions the ability to bottle it when it really matters this season, and I seriously doubt whether we've got it in us to change that on Monday. Thankfully I think my 6 year-old is too young to be majorly disappointed if this happens, and hopefully we'll be back on the rise by the time he's under peer pressure to start supporting the Man U's and Chelseas of this world... ulstersaint Posted 12 April, 2009 Share Posted 12 April, 2009 It's the biggest 'must win' home game since the last 'must win' home games against our fellow-strugglers: Home to Barnsley - we drew 1-1 Home to Watford - we lost 0-3 Home to Plymouth - we drew 0-0 Home to Notts Forest - we lost 0-2 (in front of huge crowd) Home to Doncaster - we lost 1-2 Home to Charlton - we lost 2-3 (in front of a huge crowd and no Lowe and Wilde) Not really the foundation for high hopes for this 'must win' game. beatlesaint Posted 12 April, 2009 Share Posted 12 April, 2009 Lets be honest about this - looking at the last 4 games they are all winnable, we could get 12 points, not easily admitted, but they could win all of them, Burnley at home being the hardest - Palace and Sheff Weds have nothing to play for, Notts Forest are like us so that would depend on how things go on the day. We could win all 4.................but in reality, the way we are playing and given the league table very rarely lies at this time of the season I think we will maybe win 1 and draw 1, and thats nowhere near enough. SoccerMom Posted 12 April, 2009 Share Posted 12 April, 2009 Meh. We will be there and will cheer like mad things when the players run on the pitch, but really just want the waiting to be over. Let's be having you, new owner, please, rebuild in League 1 and MOST OF ALL - let's have a club that we can be proud of. The worst thing about Friday was just watching most (not all) of the players on the pitch wandering around for 90 mins not even playing for their pride. That was far more shameful than losing to the eventual champions of the league.

Window Cleaner Posted 12 April, 2009 Share Posted 12 April, 2009 Could be worse, could be live on the TV too, which would mean no chance of a win! Of note is the fact that in 3 of our TV games this season we've conceded very early on , in the 1st minute against QPR and Wolves and after 7 minutes against Palace. Can't be a coincidence really. docker-p Posted 12 April, 2009 Share Posted 12 April, 2009 For my money we have had two 'must wins' this season, Forest and Charlton. Both played infront of good crowds 26k and 27k and both lost. Whatever happens Monday, ( and i'll be there hoping for a win) will be too little too late I'm afraid. I would urge any part-time supporters to go however, not only because the club needs the money, but just to be able to say "i saw the worst Saints team in 60 years". Window Cleaner Posted 12 April, 2009 Share Posted 12 April, 2009 to many prima donnas still doing their hair or make up ? Probably. 2 TV games with a goal inside 60 seconds has to raise doubts though doesn't it.

Just one of those things that other teams sussed very early on, and nothing effective has been done to counter it.
