SimonRichards Posted 19 May, 2009 Author Share Posted 19 May, 2009 Have you contacted local radio stations/local TV to publicise the event? I believe someone from the Saints Aid team have done this. We have been busy since Saturday putting posters all over the city. The Echo are going to run the story from now until Friday. If anyone works within a big company and have spare room on their notice board, please feel free to print out a copy of the saints Aid poster and pin it to it. hamster Posted 19 May, 2009 Share Posted 19 May, 2009 should have got this guy to play he's from southampton and pretty sure he's a saints fan... www.myspace.com/joebrooksmusic or Craig David Bloody hell, he is good. I've listened to most of the acts listed and there is some really nice stuff coming our way. This guy though, really is my kinda thing. Actually, one has to wonder why on earthe Southampton hasn't had a 'thing' going on. Forget Madchester and all that guff, southampton's music scene is awesome in my opinion. Why is it just Craig D and Artful Dodger that have made the big time?

Saints Warrior Posted 23 May, 2009 Share Posted 23 May, 2009 Went to Louisiana last night to see the metal bands. watched the first 4 bands before getting the last tain back to Eastleigh. Bands were great, mostly youngsters but you have to hand it to them , they were all in time and very professional.I think the sound engineers were from the Joiners. Not sure what to expect at first but the setup was excellant and very clear, the venue was just right (could there be another??) but shame there were not more who turned out!! The bands put a lot of effort into the performances which added to the event. So all in all very impressed and hope to see these bands again. Minty Posted 23 May, 2009 Share Posted 23 May, 2009 Just got back from SMS... I didn't get to go in to see any the bands as I was so busy with the photographs of Peter Rodrigues, but it was pretty busy and everyone seemed to be having a good time. Peter had his FA Cup Winners medal in hand (owned by the club now) and was showing it to amazed children (and adults!), many of whom got to hold it for their photo. Some of the looks on their faces as they touched the medal were priceless, even though none of them knew who he was that well, except maybe for what daddy had told them! We took photos underneath the club badge in the Megastore, alongside a picture of Rodrigues on May 1st 1976, running round the pitch at Wembley with the Cup, and the rest of the team, and so any kids who didn't know much about Saints' greatest day could relate to it (once mummy or daddy or Peter had explained it!). Peter was a thoroughly nice guy, nothing being too much trouble for him, and it was a real privelege to be a part of the day and help raise some money. Sadly I'm now off to a friends wedding reception so will miss the rest of the day and the evening gig, but Al de Man is down there all night so there'll be plenty of photos at some point. Paul Chuckle Posted 23 May, 2009 Share Posted 23 May, 2009 Went down when the show kicked of and stayed for just over an hour. Would have stayed longer had it not been for the fact no food was on sale. Was told burger vans had failed to show up. kpturner Posted 23 May, 2009 Share Posted 23 May, 2009 Spent 3 hours at the fun day with the missus and our three kids - and spent an f**king fortune! Finally had to leave due to starvation though (that and it all started to pack up). Couldn't see the bands because it was too loud for the littlun. A couple of the "Prize every go" stalls were £2.50 a pop - anyone know what proportion of that actually goes to the club? I kept paying for the kids to have a go assuming it was all going into the same pot, but presumably some covers the prizes - or did these stalls just pay for a pitch (which goes to the club) and pocket the £2.50 themselves? If the latter, I am a bit peeved. That aside, big thumbs up for the organisers. I hope it raises a decent sum but I cannot help thinking it will be a drop in the ocean. Saints Warrior Posted 23 May, 2009 Share Posted 23 May, 2009 Just got back. watched the bands from 1pm to 5.30 then legged it to KFC, at some outside ground then back in for 6.10pm. All the bands were great and totally worth the £15 plus with last nights bands. Well done to all involved and the bands, a Saints Aid to remember! At least, that's who I was told it was because I have no idea what he looks like and only saw the back of his head as he left anyway. He stayed there until the very end if it was him. A bloody great day with some excellent entertainment. A massive =D> to the organisers, the club and everyone who helped run the day.
