RedAndWhite91 Posted 9 June, 2009 Share Posted 9 June, 2009 The average attendances last season according to SSN surprised me a little. Saints' average attendance was just above the 17,000 mark. It then went to the League One attendances, and I think the highest average attendance was Leeds with around 24,000. It rapidly dropped going down the clubs, and the majority of average attendances in L1 were about 6,000 to 3,000 people, such a noticeable drop the Championship. Away games are going to be a different experience next year. If we could get around 25,000 people every Saturday at home we'd have the best support in the league, the best stadium in the league, and in a couple of seasons, the best team in the league. 70's Mike Posted 9 June, 2009 Share Posted 9 June, 2009 only issue is all those "small" clubs will see SMS as their cup final , we will have to be ruthless at home like Leicester were last season
Doctoroncall Posted 9 June, 2009 Share Posted 9 June, 2009 It would be interesting to see the trend over the season, by the end of November, the average was 15,675. At the end of the season it was 17,850ish. 2200 rise from one half to the other seems strange especially considering the dire performances in December and January. The Saturday Boy Posted 9 June, 2009 Share Posted 9 June, 2009 You are forgetting both Charlton and Norwich who both averaged more than us last season. Apart from Leeds and Leicester, no-one in League One averaged above 13k last season. Here are the Championship attendance figures - http://www.tonykempster.co.uk/div1att.htm And the League One figures - http://www.tonykempster.co.uk/div2att.htm
krissyboy31 Posted 9 June, 2009 Share Posted 9 June, 2009 Slightly different this year because there's Charlton, Norwich as well as Leeds and ourselves. If we are all up in the mix, we will all average 20,000 plus.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 9 June, 2009 Author Share Posted 9 June, 2009 Ah yes I didn't think to look at Charlton and Norwich, still, we'll have one of the highest in the league, I hope. Nice one The Saturday Boy for finding the actual attendance figures.

Season ticket sales will certainly be interesting. I for one expect all of the Lowe Boycotters to buy 2 each.
OldNick Posted 9 June, 2009 Share Posted 9 June, 2009 I read in sundays papers the bestest fans in the world, the Geordies have not been renewing their tickets and are expecting a big crowd drop. Oh how I smiled after remembering how all the commentators wax lyrical about how great they are. Hardly a shock, 2 seasons after they came second in the mid-90s they couldn't fill the ground and they were getting low 5 figures, if not 4 figure, attendances in the late 70s/1980s. Lowest attendance — 7,134 (v. Wrexham, Second Division, 1978-79) Lowest average attendance — 16,001, Second Division, 1980-81 Edited 9 June, 2009 by The9 Added some figures
