Professional Headphones

Thinking of treating myself to a pair of proper headphones, anyone got any suggestions? Don't really want to spend much more than £30, although after looking at some reviews it seems that you don't really need to spend any more than that.

Was looking at the Sennheiser HD205 IIs, they're £25 down from £45 on Amazon.co.uk, and good reviews wherever i've looked. Anyone got any good suggestions for some other ones I could look at?

Get the Sennheisers. You wont find better in that price bracket.

Just asked our buyer in the office for his opinion 'old model, but yeah, pretty good' which translates to 'decent'.

Sennheiser are a good brand, good quality, ive got an in ear (cx300) set from then which are a vast improvement on the stock iphone headphones - bought off amazon for around £20 too!

Just ordered the Sennheisers, I used to have a pair of HD 203's and they were excellent. The 205's are DJ headphones so they ought to have pretty good bass response.

The 205 are a nice set of cheap pro closed bins, very comfortable and easy to have sitting on your head when sitting about; but not so good for walking about I found. I prefer the open style 238 (non-pro) for out and about.

I have these. Very good sound but everyone else can hear what you're listening to.

Just picked up the headphones now, have to say i'm very impressed for £25. Bargain! Holepuncture, have you received yours yet?

I have some fantastic Bluetooth headphone from 7dayshop.com at around £18. Charge from USB. Last 11 hours+. Great sound. Over the ear/ back of the neck style. So good I got a spare pair for work. I no longer fling my iPhone over the room when I go to the photocopier.

Have you tried the old 307 style pair? Good quality, crisp sound and keep the ears warm. Be careful though, they block out other sounds so well that if you're watching porn and masturbating that sometimes your mother can walk in to your bedroom and catch you.

slightly outside your budget, but oh my god ive never heard anything like it through a set of headphones... i "occasionally" get to borrow them for a couple of hours when im recording.

I had a pair of in-ear Beats headphones - they were bloody superb...until the dog decided to break them.

Sennheiser are the best bet if you're looking for good value ear/headphones.

I love my Sennheiser HD 650s, they give a slightly more pronounced low frequency response than the predecessors the HD 600s, which I find more pleasing to the ear. Those two are probably the best of the affordable high-ish end stuff you can get.

Before the 650s I had a pair of HD200s, the closed back headphones which I presume the 205s take after. They're maybe a little weedy overall - but definitely better than anything else you'll get at that price though!

Earphone wise - I was very surprised how good the ear canal (CX300) ones were, and I use them a lot for general listening on my iPod or for rough editing in a hurry. Anything that sits in your ear canal will sound infinitely better than standard earphones, regardless of the price. I beg of you, ditch those iPod earphones and get something half decent instead!

Indeed I did, around an hour ago in the office! Handy really, as I forgot my in ear set today for the train!

Had a quick blast, seem pretty good. Nice long lead.

Indeed. I have a pair of HD215s which I bought for DJing purposes about 5 years ago and they have served me very well.
