Nathan Redmond Joins on 5 Year Deal - Official
way down south replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
I don't think the club dictates what formation a manager is supposed to play, its more of a general idea of how the team should play I.e attacking football, how? Is up to the manager. Like u saw in the friendly game he's likely to play him as a forward alongside long or austin or j rod. Lets hope he can adapt to it. -
CONFIRMED - Mane joins Liverpool for £34m + £2m addons
way down south replied to toe_punt's topic in The Saints
We got more for him than Dortmund did for gundogan or mikhitaryan and they're a class above mane, as long as we get a young, fast, unpredictable forward for next season then its all good, there are some fantastic players in league 1 these days.(the french league 1). Also a bit more proficiency infront of goal would be nice aswell. -
Nathan Redmond Joins on 5 Year Deal - Official

what's weid is that puel while he was at nice didn't use wingers, basically just box to box full backs with 3 cms 1 am and 2 forwards? was he consulted about this tho? -
Get him !! Get him now! And show the stupid ginger and the blue noses what actual ambition looks like. runner up at the serie regular champs league attendance, managing high caliber players such as the ones we got now, impressive!... Would be such a drag if we hire someone in the moyes league after being linked with brilliance like this.

Two things I struggle to understand in what schitt said, 1 if koeman did indeed veer off course and started to block the youth pathway to the first team, is it because he just doesn't know how to Develop youth talent (obv wasnt the case when he was in holland) or is it the more likely scenario in that the first team is just too good that unless the youth have spectacular talent they wont break into it? 2 is koeman that much of a harda** and a c*nt that he would humiliate a youngster infront of his mates when reed and some of the players have actually repeatedly said in interviews that koemans best trait is cool head in the face of adversity?
-
You maybe right but we're still speculating and I find it more likely that he didn't wanna sign an extension or even see out the current contract simply cause he had a better offer. And that, similar to delph at villa happened literally days after denying he had any interest in the everton job. Anyway IMO its even worse to try and pick apart the team you walked out on just weeks ago by poaching its best players. I think atleast out of respect he should take his money and look for talent elsewhere.
-
Not that he has any morals now, but I think the biggest disappointment in koeman will be if he comes sniffing around for any of our players, whether he signed'em or not. Not only will he be shown as a money grubbing c*nt but also a fat lazy PR*ck no better than Brenda, who utterly lacks imagination to dig up his own talent.
-
Completely agree, but is waiting a year or two really that difficult? Really easy job for him had he stayed. All he had to do was keep us in the top 8/7 maybe a good cup run all the while he'd be verging on a move to barca or arse or some other big shot.
-
I've made my peace with it, he's gone. And i dont even blame reed or anyone else since they cant stop him if he wants to go and get filthy rich. The actual time to bash the board IMO would be when/if they sign a p*ss poor excuse for a replacement. Then it'll be crystal clear that all the talk of ambition and champs league is b*llsh*t of the highest order.

I mean wtf? Why the feck are we considered a farm of anything football by anyone with a cheque book. Managers, players, staff members. Jeez i'm actually wondering if we're gonna sell the club itself next summer. If every one has a hard on for everthing southampton, then maybe they should buy southampton fc. I'm sure some commie billionaire would fancy us.
-
At this point in time they should have been worrying about themselves and wether or not they are the next aston villa instead of trying to prove that they ' have better history' you ask any young football fan about everton and he'll tell you they are a lower midtable team and nothing so grand about them. No one gives a sh*t about the past,
-
All this talk about their huge transfer kitty, i was wondering just how much are we prepared give him? before sales of course. It must be a really uninspiring figure if he's prepared to leave us. Also is their squad really any better than ours? Only lukaku would get into our xI. Fans on their forum are right pr*cks aren't they? Calling us a yoyo club.
-
Like said above if we keep on what we're are doing and get a few scalps along the way maybe get in a few silverwares next couple seasons then surely we'll establish ourselves as a fairly elite club, like spuds perhaps. We're already considered a formidable opponent by every club in the pl so not too farfetched to suggest that we could be a top club in the near future. And what's even better is that we're building towards it rather than dropping arse first into the champs league and pl title like leicester. I fear they may crumble next season although i hope i'm wrong.
-
I think this one might be different, I don't think he's gonna get a shot at the likes of manure or citeh or arse, maybe conte will take him as a replacement to mikel. But after how he conducted himself earlier in the season, i think it would be rather amusing to see him go to Leicester and languish in the bottom half.(although still play in the champs league)

VIDEO: Les Reed on Ronald Koeman's future
way down south replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
I think this clarifies the situation perfectly. He's gonna sign. Otherwise the club and everyone in it including reed are massive idiots for saying everything in the vid, and it would perfectly kill next seasons' enthusiasm. -

way down south replied to toe_punt's topic in The Saints
Though I do have a lingering suspicion that ziyech could be another Gaston, I mean have you seen the guy? His legs are as big as Mane's arms. Aside from the possibility of him being in the mahrez mould of players, he seems unfit for the physical side of the premier league. Hope I'm wrong if we do get him. And praet isn't much different. Although even some players built like a tank still struggle in the pl, see depay. -
Of course he would, unless he doesn't mind taking a pay cut of upwards of 50k a week, he's not gonna be back here. Not sure we need him now as much as we did when he left, what with clasie and romeu coming good. At spurs maybe he can replace dier?

Relegated Teams - Players who would you buy from their Squads?
way down south replied to le_tiss's topic in The Saints
This. Spuds and Liverpool did quite well in the Europa despite not too big a squad, although admittedly liverhampton had 50 mil + reserve players. I think a cracking starting 11 backed up by a decent and hungry bench, Quite similar to what we have now could do well in all competitions, of course good chance for u21s as well. Crossed fingers about injuries. -
oddest signing in recent memory, even caulker was understandible seeing as how we were short of CBs and he was prem proven, but this lad must be a glitch in the black box, no obvious quality there. no blistering pace, no trickery, no strength, no eye for goal or a good delivery. clasie looks more comfortable on the ball and we say he sometimes looks like a little boy lost on the pitch.
-
assuming no one leaves, all we probably need is one near world class AM/winger/striker all rolled into one. we saw what a massive difference that makes at wetspam, they had a nothing season last time, this season signed payet and had an awesome one( until we sh*t on it). so someone from a big team, is a massive talent and already proven at the highest level would be awesome. (although still within our limits as we don't wanna overreach and smash the wage structure)

Post-Match Reaction: SAINTS 4-1 Crystal Palace

Into Europa league proper, and not the fecking knock out rounds with weird dodgy teams and anti climaxes. COULD NOT BE HAPPIER! Huge lol at sullivan and gold. Arrogant c*nts -
Premiership stadiums getting bigger, hope we don't get left behind
way down south replied to 9-3's topic in The Saints
we have had as little as 28k at sms this season when we had our horrible spell, all the empty seats were depressing to look at, imagine what would happen in a 40k stadium. -
F**k their history, no one cares about their history, he goes there and he is gonna find a blue wearing version of saints in 2014 when he came to us. Who the h*ck wants to go through that again, all the bleak predictions after virtually every player fled the club.( I got bleak predictions about Everton's future)

James Ward-Prowse signs new six-year deal with Saints
way down south replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
I guess it has to do with him being a sort of benchmark for other up and coming youngsters in the team. Not exactly confidence inspiring if we get rid of a homegrown player with 100 appearances for the club just because hes not as promising as a couple seasons ago. That being said i dont think he got an extention based on merit but rather a promise for the future, he can only get better I guess. -
Jwp instead of injured clasie is prob a good idea, on the back of signing the new contract he might have a stormer. J rod should get a run out too tho.
