  1. Strachan took a bunch of appalling ex-Celts with him to Boro and made a poor Championship side worse. Not sure his judgement is always bang on. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  2. Yes please. Terrific prospect. Never going to get a chance at City with two international keepers ahead of him, but he's good enough to be out there at the WC with England - and would be if he was playing in the Premier League. Great investment. Unless it's a loan, of course. Guess tha means we're cashing in on McCarthy. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  3. He actually ruined the game for me. Just wouldn't shut the fudge up about all the "seismic" implications of a result that had yet to happen. On and on and on - ffs, just annouce who has passed the ball and to whom. It requires no further editorialising. ITV are and always have been the pits. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  4. Same reason he only started 14 games last season in a League One standard league: he's not really very good. I'm starting to think rumours about us being in for Geoff bloody Cameron might not be far off the mark... Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  5. Poor man's James Morrison. Squad player at best. Very underwhelming signing, in my opinion. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  6. Squeeze a few more quid out of Fulham and negotiate a decent sell on clause and I'd take the deal. McQueen is decent back up, Vokins is on the way if things get desperate, and if we sell Bertrand he'll have to be replaced by a new signing. Targett isn't good enough to be first choice for us, never will be (unless we drop down the divisions). Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  7. There aren't that many SW posters. Oh, you said cuts... Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  8. We signed him for about £13m. It doesn't ring particularly true that we'd then give him a £15m release clause when he renewed his contract two years ago (when, at the same time, we sold Mane for £35m-ish). £15m in this market for a starting player we could never replace for probably much less than double that amount would be poor business. But who knows - things behind the scenes have certainly seemed sloppy and complacent in recent years. Maybe they really have given him a stupidity low release clause. Tadic is a curate's egg. There are often times during the season when you'd be more than happy to drive him to a new employer, but there's no doubt when he engages he's our best attacker. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  9. Did well to pass a medical on crutches with his knee in a brace - I had visions of another first season Boufal type of signing if we got him. But we didn't. So good luck to him and move on. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  10. Really good signing. Big potential. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  11. During their brief stay in the PL, Gibson only looked any good when they were playing with eleven men deep behind the ball, trying to squeeze out 0-0s. As soon as they got into relegation trouble and had to try and win some games by being a bit more positive, they shipped goals for fun and Gibson appeared to be pretty limited. Think Roger Johnson and Scott Dann back in their Birmingham days. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  12. Not worth his wage demands with his injury record. Shame, as he's better than any of our current midfield options, but we're already relying on an overpaid crock to score all our goals in the ten games per season he's fit enough to feature in (for an hour) - I'm not sure filling the key areas in our side with players who are rarely available is a sensible policy. 13. No way in the world would a penalty be awarded to a forward for a light nudge, in the reverse situation, VAR or not. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  14. I think he can be a useful asset for us. 6' 4" and mobile, he can bring something different to the party - mostly off the bench. I'd rather we invested in Gallagher's development than kept flogging the useless Shane Long horse to death. He's never been a good striker, never will be. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  15. Worth noting that he's been on crutches with his knee in a brace since the end of last season. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  16. The UA Twitter had the away shirt modelled by Sims, Slattery and Valery, under some tagline about building a future or some such guff. A hint that they might be part of the senior squad next season? Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  17. An actual number 10? A goalscoring midfielder? This rumour does not compute. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  18. What the hell else is she supposed to do? Talk about shopping and lipstick? She's an experienced international footballer, presumably hired to share some insight based upon her specialist knowledge. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  19. I guess that means they're not planning on dumping that unfit, brittle waste of space and we're going have another season built around the lament "if only Austin wasn't injured". Yay. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  20. Ah, so those few people on the forum steadfastly insisting that Carrillo was going to be a great signing because, if you total up his goals as a late substitute against heavily beaten teams in the lower leagues of France, he's basically a goal every other game man; they were plants from the club's scouting and analysis department preemptively defending their work. Got it. If only they'd ignored their own statistical horse crap and just watched how rubbish he was at football, we might've saved a fortune. Or spent it all on the number two target on their list, who may or many not have had a full complement of legs. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  21. And rightly so. Why pay a penny more than they have to? If Villa want to turn down cash they desperately need to stay afloat, under the deluded impression that they're in anything other than a weak negotiating position, more fool them. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  22. Diop's going to be a monster of a CB. £17m for a 21 year old who will go for £60m+ in a couple of years. Very good business. Disappointed we haven't seemingly been sniffing around. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  23. A mid table club making noises about having realistic European asperations. The secret's out now - we're just happy to survive. That surely makes us a far less attractive proposition. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  24. CA: 119 PA: 120 Is that easier to understand? Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  25. Well, he was with us for half a season and - presumably based on something - not considered better than our available starting options for all bar one game. He's only made 20 starts for Verona since joining them last summer - the majority of them at right back. I'd speculate that we didn't keep him on because A) he wasn't the centre back we needed and B) high wages for a 30 year old squad utility player didn't seem like great business. Obviously in retrospect he might've suited our late season back three, as he's kind of an in between right back and centre back player, but he wouldn't have added the aerial strength or physicality we sorely lacked.
