Sir, You have summed things up perfectly.
-
I don't see Monday being a problem. On paper it looks like being one of the most one sided games in the division all season. We've been resting since Thursday night, they still have to play today and their current form is poor.
-
Excellent. They've got to lose sometime. They'd be keen to get straight back into it against Colchester on Monday.
-
I can accept that we may not go up as winning 8 on the spin against any opposition is an extremely long shot. However, anyone can see that 78 points with the best GD will be enough.
-
I have reassessed last night's result. Could turn out to be a good point. 6th place won't be 80 points, might not even be 78. We're big favourites for Monday (Orient play Saturday) and then we have Charlton. 5 of last 8 at home.

Considering Colchester's current form 78 will be enough in the final analysis. -

I genuinely mean this. Please tell me what your analysis of the situation is based on? -

I did indeed and like everybody else with any sanity I would swop it in a heartbeat for winning something that all the teams entered were bothered about. -

I think you will find that you Sir are the tosser. I can have my view, it may not be same as yours but it is mine. He was nominated for a victory in a trophy that is an irrelevance. -

He wasn't for me. He hasn't got this team performing to the level he should. Every time we have got to a crucial point in the season he's ****ed it up. Leeds away, Wycombe away, Swindon home are three examples. -

It's the predictability of it all... I really wonder why some are so convinced that he get this lot to perform consistently next season. After all, did Poyet have a pre season? -
Afraid not. I suppose there is a better than normal chance of a stream seeing as it is the only English league match being played that day. Anybody ITK on that?
-
I guarantee you that 80 points with the GD we would have will be enough. Can I see us winning every game? In a word - no.
-
82 is too many for 6th place.
-
80 points will be enough for a place in the play offs, especially for us as we'll also have GD on our side. Chances of us getting 80 points - very, very slim. Not worth looking at the table until 5 pm on 10th April assuming, of course, we win every game until then.
-
Have a look at Gillingham's home form.
-
I wouldn't say Colchester only getting 17 points from their final ten would be a melt down. 1.7 a match over a season is 78 points.
-
To be fair the Chairman is Graham Turner who, it is fair to say, knows a bit more about running a team than NC.
-
I don't agree. Until last night a good run and it would still have been possible. Pardew's expensively assembled team were unable to make much of an impression on a well drilled but mainly journeymen team of players. I see the problem as this: If, for example, we spend the rest of the season as we have the first 35 games i.e. up and down with good and bad results we'll probably finish up outside the play-offs regardless of the minus ten. Next season - big, big pressure on Pardew. The three clubs down to League One look as though they could be much smaller names than the three going up; even more pressure. What if we lose 2/3 out of the first four and he's fired/walks? We go round the whole new players, building buoy again. I don't think he deserves from what he has produced so far to give it until Christmas, consequently he should go as soon as the season is over. This may be harsh but I really don't see that under this bloke we will have a team any time soon possessing the necessary attributes to get 90+ points over a season in this league.
-
Agreed other than it being unlikely IF we win every match (win every game = 83 points = play offs a certainty). Assuming we beat Swindon how many points do people realistically think they will gain over their last ten matches?
-
Can we make the play off's, yes or no?
ludgershallsaint replied to Saintmike666's topic in The Saints
Definitely possible. Huddersfield, Bristol & Mk dons all catchable considering games in hand and fixtures against those teams. Don't see Swindon getting any more than thirteen points from their last ten matches. That means 29 points from our last 12. Considering our fixtures I'd give us a 30-40% chance. -
We are starting to look like flat track bullies. Good at home but not capable of rolling our sleeves up away.

Do you think Lambert and Hammond thought it would be a long shot considering they joined in August? I would imagine they would have thought it would take some work but long shot no. Schneiderlin is always capable of announcing he wants to leave - international career etc. I wouldn't count on Lallana not wanting a move Otsemebor is on a short deal (unlikely to be renewed), Jaidi is winding down, Papa is only on loan. The only ones who don't really have any right to start getting twitchy are the January signings.
