Am I mistaken in thinking there's no more parachute payments? If so, we'd have to sell most of our players unwilling to accept paycuts. The chinese owner will have to pay off his massive loan somehow too and not being in the premier league will turn him into a man primarily concerned with self-preservation. Any club relegated takes a huge financial hit. Of course we'd be in a **** position.

If we were this ambitious in the summer we would probably have got him. I'm thinking that perhaps we're now being a little too optimistic given our circumstances.

So the general consensus is he's a great guy but a bad footballer.

It's not a panic buy in the sense that they've plucked him from thin air however I feel like they've had to bend over backwards for Monaco given our current circumstances. I don't think you'd see us overpaying like that unless we felt we were backed into a corner.
